I suspect 'entitlement' really means 'Baby Boomers not wanting to give later generations the same breaks they got.'

This is literally the first time I've ever heard that first complaint. I call bullshit on this entire primer.

Boiler Room is a great depiction of people who take 'greed is good' as the point of Wall Street.

The chick with the short red hair who says 'god damn bugs whacked us Johnny' absolutely got it. That line reading was straight out of a WWII-era war film. But it does seem like they tried to cast younger actors who didn't get it (Van Diem and Richards absolutely did not, but it works in the film.)

This was pretty much the critical consensus at the time. But after 9/11 and the Iraq Invasion it became a lot easier to see the satire.

Me too. If there's a Big Black record in Vedder's collection someone left it there by accident.

This negative energy just makes me stronger!

I support We Hate Movies, but I haven't listened to all the bonus stuff yet because the Patreon app sucks.

In his defense, Matthews and his band are involved in and donate a lot of money to a lot of charitable endeavors around Charlottesville VA. Also, I was behind Matthews in a coffee shop last summer and he helped out the barista when she was having trouble with the coffeemaker. So while his music's abysmal, I do not

Let's kill!

You feel there’s somehow something wrong with your life
You’re feeling that you’re just not up for the fight
Should you hold your head up as high as you can
Bang bang, shoot em up
Enough of all reality but what about your dignity?

I'm sure it's almost entirely nostalgia for the 90s, the last decade before everything went to shit. I hated Friends at the time but occasionally I find myself not changing the channel if I find it on.

Along this line, one blog I read wishes from time to time that Obama would sign an executive order outlawing the drinking of bleach.

Low energy insults. Sad!

I think Dream On and Mind of the Married man had more Entourage DNA.

Arli$$ was inoffensive. I think they're recycling some of its plots for Ballers.

Similarly, someone at NBC really believed in Julia-Louis Dreyfus, because she appeared in a couple of failed sitcoms for the network after leaving SNL, most famously the Family Ties spinoff The Art of Being Nick.

I'd like to remind everybody that the AV Club commentariat was very much looking forward to Mulaney. You can blame AV Club for pushing a lot of lame crap, but the Mulaney hype is on us!

The first Tin Machine record. It got shit on at the time because a lot of mainstream rock critics thought Bowie was past his sell-by and he was making a desperate grab for relevance, but it's a great straight-up rock record that deserves re-evaluation.

Cuomo has to have massive skeletons in his closet. He would have been handed the nomination in 1988 (not to mention 1992). The Democrats were counting on him in '88; part of the reason I think they did so badly was that they didn't have a real Plan B.
