I've definitely heard the shore of both lakes and oceans referred to as the beach. I think it depends whether you have an actual sea- or ocean- side beach to go to relatively easily.  Those who don't, call the biggest nearby piece of wet, flat sand a "beach."

I was just reminded of my crappy knowledge of geography.

I joked to myself that it was "Lawrence Welk" as well.

There's always necrosis in the human totem pole!

Maybe his first name is "Garrett Jacob" like "Mary Beth" or "Betty Sue"

Yes, this.

It's hilarious and spot on, nutrition-wise.

I agree that we are seeing Hannibal reach out to people in a way that is new and meaningful. The notion that it's driven by the desire to murder with them just seems kind of juvenile to me, but perhaps it is correct.  I don't think he has any interest in stopping murdering or changing himself. I think he just has

I agree it was out of line, but I liked it as character development.  I was angry at him during that scene, but flashed back to the episodes where we discover his wife is dying and wondered whether his viciousness here was related.

Hmm. I'm not so sure. I think this show is supposed to show us characters' complexity, rather than "all Hannibal thinks about is murder." I think he just finds her fascinating and probably genuinely wants to help her.  Something got him into psychiatry, after all…

Don't forget the hot ham water!

So the intervenee in the picture is carrying what addictive substance? Duster? Whipped cream?

Maybe because he's just too dangerous to keep in a courtroom? Or because they felt some guilt and responsibility in how he and his "family" were treated?  But probably just so they can have the sequel.

I've said it a few times in my life, but when I say it, it's more like "mmmm Cummbbberrrrrbaaaatch"

Nobody laughed in our theatre, but maybe that was b/c we saw it a few days after most hardcore Trekkies.  We both got the reference, but I guess I still thought it was sad that a person died and another character was all sad about it…

Man, how much longer can Shatner really stick around? He looks pretty unhealthy…like he has scotch with at least 19 meals a week.

We probably need to start a mail-in campaign, a la lightbulbs for Friday Night Lights…I guess we all send in human organs?

@avclub-eede55069a8d3430b54730901f49c230:disqus , they have advertised as airing it with "limited" commercial interruption as a "special event."

I agree - I noticed the shorter, more fast-paced scenes early on. It set the tone for the episode from the beginning and let us know a lot was going to go down.

What if it was some weird UN experiment (that went horribly awry, thus leading to the ban?)
