Cyco, that's pretty close to the only thing they could have been trying to do, assuming it was intentional. I've read some other comments that say that Rafe Spall's accent sounded like a weird British-Southern hybrid also, so maybe they really were going for that? Hopefully?

I thought the opening scene was pretty clear. He seemed proud, purposeful, and knowledgeable about what he was doing. And I knew what the movie I had paid money to see was about, so that helped.
