Agreed on finally portraying the war in a gritty way. Just a shame that nobody thought to mention it to music crew. And 2 minutes of slow motion for Basilone's death? Seriously?
I honestly think he cared enough about the next soldier not to convert him into a Tom Cruise hero stealing the show.

I was terrified that they would try to do "BOB in the Pacific", for the simple reason that both theaters did not have the same narrative and spirit at all. The racism, violence and meaningless aspects of the Pacific theater required a harsher perspective and I am relieved to see the result.
