Tangled up in BLUE? Or are you talking about something real?

Yes, of course, Neutral Milk Hotel. That would be lovely, though who knows what it would actually be like. "Little Birds," the only really known NMH song post-AEROPLANE sounds as if it wouldn't even work with that album's band line-up, at least according to the 33 1/3 book. What I'd really like to see though is the

Neil Young should record an album about environmentally friendly electric cars that he made himself in his garage. That's the sort of thing I'm waiting for from him. Maybe it's too much to hope for, but I'm just going to put that out there and hope he does the right thing.

LEONARD COHEN
I regard Leonard Cohen's '70s albums as literally some of the greatest pieces of art created for any medium ever. Does that sound extreme? I'm sure it does. It is, I know, but I cannot listen to SONGS FROM A ROOM, or SONGS OF LOVE AND HATE, or NEW SKIN FOR THE OLD CEREMONY or any of his other albums

And @Derek—

Okay, apparently Scott has dropped BLOOD MERIDIAN and passed the project onto Todd Field, director of IN THE BEDROOM and LITTLE CHILDREN. Hmm.

That website is lovely. It's been a huge aid to me in adding depth and understanding to my readings of the book. I read the book out loud to my wife, but also read ahead every night after she fell asleep, so I've basically read it twice, and I have to say, I LOVE IT. The world of this book absolutely haunts me.

Sharna pax and get the poal!

You can't ever expect Caribou to do the same thing from album to album. He never has. Just go along for the ride.

I saw him once with Fuck Buttons, but I did not love the opener, even though I like some of their recorded work. What did you like about FB live?

I've seen him twice, flying across the country both times to do so, and both shows were in my Top Five Concerts Ever. Snaith is one of the rare electronica artists who really care about effectively transferring his recorded work to the live medium. His shows are not just some guy lunging around at a laptop—not at

THE TERROR's premise looks pretty cool, but according to Wikipedia, has been accused of having an "undertext of right wing homophobia" and what author China Mieville calls a "pathological Terror of anal penetration." Hmm.

Agreed. That's one of my favorite parts of … CARBURETOR DUNG.

Kids don't need darker movies.
And if these aren't kids movies, then someone is missing the point big-time.

"Bowls" is really standing out upon repeated listens as a song that could essentially be a stellar outtake from START BREAKING MY HEART. There's even a shimmery harp sound in it that I think was actually first used on the first album. Perhaps that's an aural reference back to that first album, the same way that

I think it was Lester Bangs
who compared MMM with Brian Eno's MUSIC FOR AIRPORTS. Both came out around the same time, and they really both are ambient in their own ways, one aiming for gentleness and beauty, the other for noise and aggression, but both with a similar ultimate effect.

I'm so glad to see this reviewed here—and the grade seems pretty accurate.
I absolutely love this disc. I've been streaming it for weeks, and just got my pre-ordered copy in the mail today. Lovely, lovely, lovely. "Jamelia" has my vote for best song of 2010 (so far, but it'd be hard to top it); "Lalibella" is

EVERYONE!: CHECK OUT THIS WEBSITE!
It's a community-annotated online version of RIDDLEY WALKER, and it is incredibly awesome and helpful. I just found out while trying to verify what that crumbly yellow stone described in the book might be. (It's sulfur.)
