Old, apparently.
2004. Man.

FIRST…
…but it doesn't feel as if it matters. How old is this review?

I think Gallagher gets an unfair rap because everyone is just so caught up in their own mediocrity. Someday people will get tired of perpetually coasting, and give people like Dane Cook, Jeff Dunham, and Gallagher the time and attention they deserve. And when that day finally comes, I think World Peace won't be far

Good for you, Jason—you should have no trouble with MOBY DICK then. Especially if you're reading the WHALER'S DICTIONARY as well. Don't be skeered.

Be sure to get an edition of DON QUIXOTE with a good explanation of what happened between the publication of the two halves—that there was a fake second part published by someone else, and so forth—because knowing that just makes the second part shine; it justifies the entire book a million times over, up until that

What a brilliant book. It was my absolute favorite for years, though it does a feel a bit incomplete, and justifiably so, since Dostoevsky always intended it to be just the first of two parts. The conceit of creating a character each for the mind, "spirit," and body is as good as creating two characters for the two

Jason Heller—
I'm reading MOBY DICK right now, and if I may make a recommend, I think you'll find the experience much more enjoyable.

That is BRILLIANT.
Talk about spinning gold out of straw. What a win. Outstanding.

Good post. Consider me a fan of yours, TLAotA.

In 2009…
…my reading resolution was to read one book about the Big Bang every month, in the hope I'd have a solid layman's idea of the theory by the year's end. I read…nine books about it, I think, so I'm a bit behind, but now I'm obsessed with the subject, so I'm setting the same goal for 2010. A book a month about

But Jeb Bush is really a great political mind. Maybe Gallagher will campaign for him in 2012.

And every time a car alarm sounds, an angel gets stabbed in the eye with a pencil.

I just ordered the first one.
I think I will play along with this fun little game!

Re: "George Bailey does everything good and right in his life, and he gets dumped on," which Claire's parents both said at the same time—

Wow. Thanks for that story. It makes the interview make a lot more sense now. (It doesn't justify it though. )

Has Gallagher ever been funny? Even as a kid I thought he was baffling and retarded. Smashing watermelons? I could do that myself, if I wanted to.

Really, you didn't notice that mediocrity increased as Carrot Top's career declined? Prop comedy is excellence incarnate. That's why Shakespeare wrote all those one-man plays about funny inventions.

I think you're right on, and I think you just named a slough of movies I need to see or re-see ASAP.

This interview was really enjoyable…
I liked the idea of it, and I really liked when the focus shifted to the interviewer. Well-done. But I don't think John F. actually knows what an appositive is.

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a film clip so much.
But why only one? I mean, BREAKIN' 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO had three, and this looks way more deserving.
