Would you rather have your soul crushed or your back broke?  That's the difference between suffering in a post-industrial society and a pre-industrial one.  People in the developing world get an ample helping of both.  (Yes, that's a glib oversimplification.)

I think a performance that is alienating and absurd is profound in that it reflects the human condition, rather than just remarking upon it in a humorous and insightful way.  So…something like Andy Kaufman reading The Great Gatsby.

I have to assume that's a little joke.  You know: Wassername…what's her name…he couldn't remember her name correctly…get it?  And Rabin would never flub a minor detail in a review of 30 Rock.  Only major ones.

The only hate bandwagon I'll hate is one that hates hate bandwagons.

I don't usually love episodes of 30 Rock, but this one I did.  When I think of 30 Rock I think of brutal consistency in the gag department, and that engenders more respect than love.  I have affection for the characters, but I don't care what happens to them.  The story arcs are there, but not really a selling point.…
