Eleven has been tied to Amy from the get go. In fact that we the ma Jordan theme of this episode. We all love the ponds but will we love the Matt smith doctor minus the ponds?

The Shakri are obviously being set up as long term mythology building villains.the real question ishow do they relate to the silence

Here's the thing, pretty much all Sci-Fi that uses aliens as an element of the story depends on the idea that there is a way around the speed of light limitation out there waiting to be discovered. If it turns out there really just isn't (and this is the most likely scenario), then it's pretty unlikely that we will…

As far as the shaky gender politics in the book go, I think the real problem (such as it is) is that we haven't really had any time yet to develop any individual Amazons other than Hippolyta and Diana. The previous continuity had a bunch of Amazons with individual personalities that would pop up in the book from time…

Yup. When Johns is "on" he's as good a writer as anyone in the business. When he is "off" his writing becomes the very definition of schlock.

I agree. I find Wonder Woman to be the best book DC is putting out right now (main DCU continuity, that is).

The backwards "R" can be rendered typographically using the Cyrilic alphabet, in which it has nothing to do with the "r sound". (the letter actually designates a "ya" sound, but that doesn't stop lazy artists/publishers/whatever from using it in place of an "R" to give something a faux-Russian feel)

I saw the Palecki Wonder Woman pilot. While the script was laughably bad I thought she had a surprising amount of charisma, and certainly looked the part.

Were those supposed to be phasers? Cause if so, that's kind of… well… stupid. One thing I always liked about Trek is that projected energy weapons were portrayed as constant rays. Cause, ya know, speed of light and all that. It makes more sense if they are some kind of souped up photon torpedoes.

I too liked the Defiant and its role in this story. Speaking as someone seeing this episode for the first time, my impression was not that the ship was "jobbed out", but that it genuinely is a pretty kick ass ship, but at this point, the Federation personnel have no idea how to really utilize a ship like this to it's…

I'm really liking this "dark Federation" concept. I got that feeling from just the hints of the Dominion we got last season and it seems like it would a real thematic gold mine.
