I'm really liking this "dark Federation" concept. I got that feeling from just the hints of the Dominion we got last season and it seems like it would a real thematic gold mine.

I liked "The Search" quite a bit. The second part dragged a little, IMO, but I'm surprised how, somehow, these characters that I didn't like at all in Season 1 and most of Season 2 have kind of "sneaked up on me". I even felt myself liking Kira in this.

To my mind, scotch and bourbon whiskeys are the way to go. Scotch in particular has a HUGE range of tastes. Or rather, they all have that peaty, smoky flavor, but huge ranges in the gradations and subtleties. You can start with a decent blend, or if you want to go the single malt route (my particular love) I…

I hadn't read that but that doesn't really fix the problem with the concept. It's probably not worth getting into a big debate over it, but the idea of preventing, say for instance, J'onn from using his abilities is nonsensical. His powers aren't really "powers" to him, but rather his natural normal abilities. It…

I actually agree with @avclub-2300d8171ca46be1ee5a72d2837c1b6d:disqus It's a great episode but it's not flawless. There are too many deus ex machinas and overly contrived moments for it to really be a perfect story. Luthor's power disruptor is just the most blatant (and implausible) one, but there are several.

@avclub-d80126524c1e9641333502c664fc6ca1:disqus Howard the Duck is an awful movie, but worth seeing just for the opportunity to be able to make bestiality jokes featuring Lea Thompson.

It's the contrast. Flash is great at being the class clown, but we are so conditioned to seeing J'onn as the sombre, serious guy, that when he does actually say something funny it hits that much harder. (see also: Batman)

"I, Mudd" is tremendous fun for people who are already fans, but I suspect it is exactly the kind of episode that would turn off neophytes.

Star Trek:TOS is pretty much the only time I will recommend that people watch the digitally tweaked version of something. They really did a fantastic job of it. It keeps the original feel of the sixties effects, while cleaning up and enhancing them just enough have them feel more weighty and present on the screen. …

From everything I've read, the DC Animated stuff was already pretty much being handled as their own separate thing, so I wouldn't worry about it. I doubt they'd change much of anything on that front since they've been fairly successful with those.

If it were the former the better word would have been "horrifying". And anyway, I kind of like Earth 2 Grundy. *SPOILERS* He's kind of a combination of classic Grundy and The Gray Man, which is a clever combination that makes him a logical nemesis for Alan Scott, who in this continuity is apparently powered by The…
