Each episode is just an episode of the Vampire Diaries, but with all the dead characters hanging around unseen, snarking on what's happening. They could just take fan commentary from online and put it in characters mouths — writes itself.

They don't have anything better to do right? They're stuck on the Otherside. I think Rose even mentioned it the last time she came back, that there isn't much to do but watch.
Easy bet is on Damon.
Yeah, power levels are awful at this point. Remember when Pearl shoved her thumbs into Damon's eye sockets? 500 years > 160 years.
I was kinda hoping that the show would refrain from bringing Jeremy back. When I watched that scene of Elena weeping over the tombstone I thought, wouldn't it be interesting if she had to finally deal with her pain and grief head-on? People die and sometimes you have to accept that they are gone. When he didn't…
I am a little curious about whether or not there's something going on with Alaric. He was conspicuously absent during the Silas defeat. We don't see him again till the end, when he has the Cure in hand.
It was weird to me that he found it in Silas' pocket. I thought Silas turned to stone or something — how did he get…
That Caroline reveal was awesome and unexpected and gross. I agree with your other points as well, it seemed like a mishmash for most of it. And magic has been and always will be the worst.
Agreed. Vampire power levels are completely out-of-whack - age doesn't matter at all anymore. Plus you have Bonnie the giant deus ex machina, who apparently can use expression to do whatever.
I was promised all kinds of dead people! Where was Vicki? Where was Rose? Where were all the other Mikaelsons? Or any of the werewolves? Mystic Falls is dripping with dead grudge-filled supernaturals — where are they all hiding out?
D'oh. Comment posted in the wrong spot. I doubt they'll kill Kat though, that seems a bit much.
I know a number of episodes back I said that I wouldn't actually want Ric back because it would cheapen his death.
I thought it was pretty weird at the time and it stood out enough for me to remember it. It definitely looked like there was a purpose to the way she was hanging out — all the other trainee extras took off for the door pretty much.
The girl who stands there like she wants Graham's attention but then wanders off when Bloom steps in front of her? (That may have happened in the third episode — I thought it was weird at the time). She looked vaguely Clarice-like.
I wasn't a big fan of Ros' addition to the story, but I thought the actress did her best with what she had.
This was my favorite episode since the pilot, I think. Between Eddie Izzard doing his best Anthony Hopkins impression, the perfectly horrible Dr. Chilton, and the creepiest Will-imagines-a-killing yet I was very happy with it.
@avclub-24c718831b46f19e2230cca070990102:disqus Caroline is probably super prepared for every emergency known to man or beast.
There's a full apocalypse prep kit in every room, ready to go. This is why she isn't more concerned about Bonnie bringing about the End of the World with Silas — she's already completely…
The first two episodes of the season are some of the best, I think. Damon talking to Alaric's grave. Elena unable to keep blood down. Blood sharing scene. Tyler taking one for the team. Elena remembering all the things Damon made her forget. Elena dealing with all her overpowered senses. Stefan listing off all the…
I like how you think.
@avclub-cb0e59b8f769a8698b9f7154dd8809b5:disqus Alaric died as a vampire. So he is stuck on the Otherside. Hanging out, watching Damon drink.
And it'd be a useful skill for Matt's fucked up life.
