I re-read The Coldest War in anticipation of Necessary Evil (the final book in the Milkweed Triptych). Coldest War was as excellent as I remember it. I'm not 100% sold on Necessary Evil yet — the first person perspective in places is jarring.

I just started Necessary Evil yesterday after a quick re-read of the preceding books.

Decapitating Trevor, forcing Slater to commit suicide, ripping hearts out of two random vamps at once in Slater's apartment, throwing all those coins at windows and doors — Elijah gets shit done.

Klaus was interesting till he got overused and de-fanged (so to speak). Elijah remains interesting because he pops in, does something cool, and then disappears leaving the fans wanting more.

So the full ep did come out on iTunes, then? Excellent. I may grab that and compare it to what I watched last night.

Could be, definitely. I wasn't sure if it was more to do with the Korean broadcast version I was watching — which showed an altered set of main credits very first thing, then went on to the "house as a boat" conversation with a jagged cut to the reveal of the first crime scene. I'm betting that the main credits were

I watched it last night and I agree — this was the worst episode of the five that have been released. There are parts of it that have real potential, but the actual serial killer plot (the parts cut from the webisodes) lack any focus or explanation. Stuff just happens.

I finally started watching Supernatural. People have been recommending it to me forever and ever, but I've always had some excuse to keep me from finally getting started on it. Liking it so far, but I haven't seen anything revolutionary yet five episodes in. I'm going to give it some more time to pick up. For now,

It's such an odd change from the book that I'm hoping there's a plan in the works to undermine Tywin on this.

Already picked up for a season next year.

I was thinking of them as "squints" ala Bones, but I like this better too.

Fair point on who knows about it. Still a lot of dead vampire bodies rotting all over the world. Still weird that they've basically ignored it, other than an easy fix for the tattoo.

Yup, this is a giant nagging issue for me - I've been complaining about it for a while. Kol was pretty monstery — I'm sure he left tons of little baby vampires all over the place. Which means when he died there were piles of dead vampire bodies all over the world.

Nothing would make me happier than to see some fallout from Kol's death finally. If that gets tied in with other vampires waking up to the giant vulnerability that everyone shares (Originals die, everyone dies) then even more awesome.

It's still weird to me that all the vampires in the world are ok with their existence always dependent on these three, two of whom do everything in their power to piss people off regularly.

Looks like they're moving to NOLA:

I didn't think it came out of nowhere, but it was a stronger outburst than I expected, given that Jack is the one prodding Will to do all this stuff. You'd think he'd be a little more relaxed about the occasional insubordination from his socially awkward serial killer bloodhound.
