"His grudge had been in place since 1864 and wasn't resolved until season 1! What's all of this "needing my little brother" in the 1910's and 1940's flashbacks? More importantly, what's the point in retconning his character? I honestly don't know- maybe they want to make him seem as less of a psychopath and/or even up

Completely fair point, dygitalninja.  That would be interesting for the show to bring up and deal with.

1. I am really, really ready for the crazy plot whiplash plot to pick up again.  That was what made this show so great — every week everything was happening all at once all the time, with little bits of love triangle stuck in around the edges for effect.  I know this is a teenage supernatural romance on the CW and so

Huh…I hadn't remembered about the council, but that's a good point. Do we know for sure there were 12 of them.

This was my initial reaction too - even if Stefan wasn't in love with Katherine, Damon certainly was. He spent over 100 years waiting for her, then did everything to save her — and the show treated it like normal crazy obsession, no sire bond nonsense needed.

April stands in the corner and recites "Have you seen Rebekah? She promised to help me investigate the fire at my dad's place…" over and over and over.

I want her to do that every time she gets compelled to forget - her brain just resets to the only thing she's sure about: Rebekah promised to help her investigate the fire.

I would love to see a series of episodes where Elena dates no one, and instead focuses on herself for a while. She needs to figure her own shit out now that her life has changed so radically and the Salvatores have way too much crazy when it comes to her.

Now that Jeremy has the hunter's mark he can't be compelled anymore, right?  That's gonna make things rough for them.  They compel that kid all the time in order to "help him."

I thought they handled it pretty well actually — I'm kinda surprised people were so upset about it.  Caroline figures it out, confronts Tyler, and they talk about it.  Tyler has a plan that makes sense and she seems to agree with him about it.
I also liked the fact that they didn't drag this out over several
