You are correct, however that doesn't excuse the fact that the actual writing for what occurred was extremely poor. Too rushed (probably not the fault of the scriptwriter for the episode), poorly plotted out and just plain bad in appearance - (Gay character finally gets romantic fulfillment, immediately dies).

Game of Thrones increasingly relies on suffering and death as shock tactics in lieu of good writing, so actually I kinda think they'll just be used to it.

There's far more to the story than this.

It's actually the only TV show these days I'll make time to watch. Every other show is more of a "meh, I'll catch it when I can".

Still Life is also my favourite Opeth album, a fantastic concept album. But I've noticed most metal fans/listeners tend to rate Morningrise or Blackwater Park higher, and they seem to be held in higher esteem by critics (particularly Blackwater Park, which is mostly owing to Steven Wilson being involved, I'd say).
