Hah… Mark seems like a good sport. He and Lisa have a big brother/little sister vibe going on. I love his blog. Have you guys seen the KEXP live performance they performed earlier this year?

Well that sure is something, Internet!
Well he tried to have a son but that son ended up just being a part of him as did some ghost or something. I don't know. That's just what I've been told in Sunday school since the Nicene Council at least.
Yeah, I probably do have an intuitive knowledge of the distinction. I will say that in my formal writing, I tend to avoid compound verb forms due to concise modernism being drilled into me in AP English (it went out the window I guess in creative writing as I admired the long-winded Faulkner more than Hemingway).
Do you really, though? Wishes are always contrary to reality if not they wouldn't be wishes. Really, you would always the subjunctive in this case.
Who is asking the students or the tests they have to take? Do you think they (assuming "they" are "the students") are asking because their native language has a much more developed subjunctive and they are looking for an analogue or is it because they keep hearing it in conversation.
Oh, I don't think you are an idiot It just sorta seemed like you were bragging about not knowing something that seems kinda important for your field. Probably misread your intent. It's interesting that you refer to it as hillbilly speak in the OP. The subjunctive is definitely archaic in English and hillbilly…
You should probably have known about the subjunctive mood. What type of literature? If it's modern, I can understand it. Still a pretty large gap in knowledge. Kinda like a math major not knowing how to calculate sine.
I remember when I used to correct people's grammar. I was insufferable. Still am but for different reasons.
I am not sure if not using the subjunctive mood is necessarily poor grammar. The subjunctive mood is vestigial in the English language. Really, the only people who know about it are people who have studied language in some capacity at the university level. I would wager that even people who know the rule regularly…
The modern world is not so bad. Not like the students say.
Goddammit… I forgot to DVR this again. Fuck.
The AV Club
I was at a convention where different comic artists were there. Friends of mine swear that one of them heard me say,"Maybe you can draw yourself a real job,"
I am fucking loving this album.
I don't really blame them. Indianapolis is a cultural wasteland. I'm hoping to see their next Cincinnati show or possibly their next Dayton show if it's before I complete my masters.
I was at that show! But I left before that cover! I was so angry. In my defense it already 1:30 am and I had a 1.5 hour drive to take a friend home
It hadn't happened when you made that post :). Have you heard Attica! yet? It's fucking amazing.
They reviewed Wussy! Attica got a 7.8.
Hopefully he doesn't end up in a Roofie circle.
