Okay, maybe smart was the wrong word. She's an idiot - she's just less mind-bogglingly idiotic than Forrest himself.
Seriously!! I never would have made that connection but it's undeniable and amazing.
I also love that AJ thinks that Forrest would love the six star review when in reality he would be horrified and depressed that the purity of his show was ruined.
Review is one of a handful of shows that's come after Breaking Bad that is structured around the seemingly-unsustainable steady escalation of the main character's commitment to something awful inside them. I'd place UnREAL in the same category although I guess we'll have to wait and see if season 2 of that show…
There's also the simple fact that AJ is too smart. It would be out-of-character for her to agree to do the ridiculous viewer requests or to adhere to them with such a weird principled code (for instance, she never would have vetoed 'procrastination' - she'd have just hung out and watched TV for a night or two and said…
Yeah the easiest-sounding reviews generally ended up being the most devastating for Forrest.
Was just thinking the same thing! It's funny how both end in the same basic way and with the same sense of 'they *could* survive if this isn't the finale, but if it is then it can just be canon that they both died.'
I've listened to Sunbather probably a dozen times now and my opinion of it still hasn't really changed from "it's pretty good." It never quite drew me in the way it seems to have done for others and it definitely didn't seem to be doing anything too different from what Amesoeurs and Alcest and such had already done so…
I would hardly say Harmon can do no wrong, but I *would* say that he is capable of doing right with just about anything. He definitely has it in him to make a fantastic Community movie.
It's the opposite of season 5 in that the best episodes come at the end so even though it's hit-and-miss before that you have something to look forward to. The finale is legitimately one of the best episodes they ever did.
Yeah I mean he basically even says that's the case. He doesn't even use coded language or anything. He more-or-less self-identifies as a white supremacist.
True, although to say that a metal album you like 'expands beyond metal's confines' is kinda shitty. Like, "it completely transcends that frivolous little kids' stuff that most of metal is!" It's sorta like when people would praise The Dark Knight by saying "you can hardly even tell it's a comic book movie!"
Phew! Our long national nightmare is over.
Karl Lagerfeld sounds like a porn director to me. Like, he should have made Logjammin'.
It's the most interesting failure on TV right now. It's not very fun to watch, but it's a lot of fun to think about/write about/read about. If ever an argument was to be made for the virtues of 'hate-watching' it's this season.
It's interesting because Jane was introduced as a whip-smart manipulator who seemed to remind Joan of a younger version of herself. But as soon as she got out of the workplace her life and personality just completely imploded.
That's one of the reasons Pete is such an amazing character: he retains the audience's sympathy even though it was clear he was a loathsome, irredeemable monster even in season 1. Hell, he's more sympathetic than Roger and is probably a worse person.
There are few entertainment facts that make me more sad than Elisabeth Moss being a Scientologist.
I really admire the way the show has often allowed Joan to be very tough to love because of her clear faults and yet completely tragic at the same time. She *is* pretty racist, even by the standards of that time. She can also be deeply cruel and selfish. Her faults don't take away from how heartbreaking it is that the…
