So that was a shoutout to SaTC? I thought it sounded like one, but haven't seen enough episodes of it to be sure.

The "Oriental Maid" comment caught me off-guard. Then the fact that it was played for laughs, and not in any particularly funny way…Oy. Poor Mouse.
I trusted the B—— in Apt 23 and got my heartbroken when it abandoned me. I won't be making the same mistake twice with —-istance.
"I miss the days when the chosen divas who became Gay Icons were women who scrapped and fought their way to the top, as opposed to being pruned and pushed by their parents."
Now, that is a great picture.
" Does anyone consider her a talented singer or dancer?"
"Was I the only one who, for a brief moment, wondered if Andre was going to turn out to be Bell’s romantic partner rather than his brother? I knew that was incredibly unlikely, but it seemed possible for a fleeting moment."
I gotta say, if this is some sort of weird ratings ploy, it's totally working. I can't wait to tune in to this single-cam-turned-multi-cam show (now filmed in front of a live-studio audience) about a dad whose wife whose left him alone with a baby and Maya Rudolph.
This actually hurts.
@avclub-d80ecbbbef6ab40a4e53d1ad2c3fc1b2:disqus Could be. Though they could have done anything else; I mean, whose to say Carrie didn't have a cute, curly bob in the 80s? They could have made it work somehow.
I think he's known since day 1, for any number of reasons: he would be able to tell when Joan's lying, he's probably read(ing) her emails, his own doubts that his father would extend her stay, etc. I think he's just going along with it, because he knows that's what Joan needs him to do right now.
"She's doing the exact thing that he wants!"
My guess is that maybe the actress didn't have enough time to grow out her real hair, but they easily could have given her extensions/a weave that would look a lot better than the wig she wears now.
I really hope they figure out Carrie's hair situation soon. The wig she wears now is too distracting, in that it's-clear-she's-wearing-one kind of way.
Schmidt has usually been portrayed as earnest, and coming from a good place where his ignorance toward Cece's culture is concerned. Tonight's episode had him behaving more…actively disrespectful(?), which made it a lot harder to root for him imo.
Allowing the ex-boyfriend to form genuine friendships with Carrie's friends was something a lot of TV shows don't do, and it really worked. Also, Mouse/Sebastien have great chemistry. Hopefully, we see more of them in the future!
