On the one hand, OF COURSE this is terribly ironic and this piece of trash is one of the last people on Earth who can credibly claim some kind of moral high-ground on the subject of sexual assault.

"Holy Thursday" is one of the all-time greats. RIP.

Unfortunately they won't be staying up as archives either. And you won't be able to PM anyone anymore. Everything will just be gone completely in a couple weeks. (Love that super-short notice!)

Exactly. Yes, there were trolls and idiots, but no place is immune to that. There were also some of the most intelligent people on there — I swear, I could name two or three IMDb users who've inspired my writing (about film, philosophy, and in general) more than the vast majority of people I've met anywhere else.

Hrm… Does this mean my undying love for White Russians may prove detrimental to my heart? After all, there is (some) caffeine in Kahlua…

My favorite part of the Twin Peaks experience, my favorite Lynch film, and one of the most viscerally moving and downright brave and empathetic pieces of cinema I've ever seen. I'm very glad to see it finally get the recognition it deserves. It's the other half of Twin Peaks, its truth; the fun and dreamy series can't

Bridgers is a terrific actor and even though Trey's one of the more "bad" people on the show, it's unsurprising given how nuanced Rectify is that he still has never come across as a black-and-white villain. He's complicated, and human.

I've come to the conclusion that it's probably my favorite show, period. Definitely the show that's got me the most emotionally attached to it. And also I think the most consistently great series I've seen, give or take a Deadwood. (I adore The Sopranos, but parts of S5-6A feel padded, and I never loved S1 like I do

This is one of those rare 2010s dramas where each season has only been released on DVD, no blu-ray. I certainly hope for a box-set blu though, but for now it's not too bad watching the whole series in HD on Netflix for S1-3/Amazon for S4.

Yeah, I'm way too big of a fan to not spoil myself by reading this. Oops.

I would definitely recommend Six Feet Under to anyone who likes Rectify. It's rather similar in its realistic depiction of humanity/relationships/mental illness and all sorts of heavy stuff. It is a bit too self-consciously "quirky" in its initial episodes, to my taste, but by Season 2 or 3 it finds its tone and the

I think you must be right, because I noticed a huge difference when comparing watching on laptop with headphones to watching on a big-screen TV. With headphones, that backyard scene sounded super weird, the music was mixed way too loud; on my TV, it sounded superb, actually. Once it was no longer so artificially

On further review, this was possibly the most moving episode of Rectify to date. Nearly every scene was some kind of tearjerking, emotional confrontation or conversation between two (or more) people, "unburdening" some emotional baggage or trauma which had for too long been cooped up in a mental attic, gathering dust.

RECTIFY S4E8, final scene:

Funny, I thought it was a joint at first as well, until after Tawney came in and you could see the filter clearly. It made me think his "You're not Melvin.." comment at the door seemed like a realistic thing one might say when stoned.

I'd never heard it before, but it was a beautiful choice. The guitar work in that song is really lovely, as well.

I also was a bit surprised at how cold and dispassionate the therapist sounded. Then again I know some might prefer that, or find that more "professional" than someone whose style is more hands-on and emotional. The better alternative might be in-between: someone who can be brief/to-the-point like Daniel's therapist,

I don't love Chloe either, but I do think Fitzgerald has been doing some fantastic non-verbal acting, and maybe that's why I thought that dancing scene was her best so far, just beautiful for both actors and characters.

The music in the Ted/Teddy/Janet backyard scene was the first time this season that I've understood people's complaints about the score being too intrusive. I noticed the score being louder or just more prevalent this season (a trend that has increased with each year), but I thought that it was mostly quite effective.

This season was a mess.
