Let's put it all into bitcoins!

Whenever my wife and I watch a film and discuss it afterwards, she always says "You should be a film critic, or study cinema…" I always think that there are real pros, like Scott, who do this job for a living, are way more insightful than I could be, and, since everyone on the internet thinks they can be a critic, the

Any of the Peter Jackson splatter films.

Yeah, I think I rewatched Starship Troopers just after reading the article.

I went to a friend's house to play poker, and they started watching Transformers 3 with all the motion-smoothing turned to the max, or, well, on. So I really had to hold my tongue on two fronts, there.  Then someone said, "It looks better than it does at the theater!" Still held my tongue…

My parents hooked up their new HDTV to their new Blu Ray player.  They used composite cables for that connection, because apparently those still exist. When I said "Now, that looks a lot better!", they sort of shrugged their shoulders.

There's a mass exodus of good writers, and all the good columns are shutting down, too!  Would you say it's time for people to crack each others' heads' open and feast on the goo inside?

I remember the entry lauding the opening shot of Donnie Darko; I wouldn't have checked it out if not— it seemed like a dumb high school movie.  It might be, if I watched it again, but that article got me watching it.

There's a sitcom just waiting to be made about the wacky scrapes an abortion doctor gets into.

It was a few steps back, but because of when it came out and where I lived (a dorm), I played WCW vs. NWO non-stop with three other people.  I saw No Mercy later and said "That would have been so awesome to have two years ago!!"

I don't know why they don't bring back that gimmick.  I would say it was too low-brow before, but… well, this sentence will probably finish itself.

I thought of this article this morning when I heard about Thatcher.

Excited for it.  I am sort of surprised they are still a band.  When they have a member that has as much of a solo career as Gonzalez does, you sort of wonder, although his last album was a while back, I guess. Plus, the other one was a triple-album, and I thought, well, maybe it was just a session where they recorded

I mean, you could see it coming, in hindsight.  When I heard Woman King, I was thinking, there's just more and more stuff getting added in.  Then the EP with Calexico, again, some good songs on there (although there's a better solo acoustic version of Dead Man's Will that was floating around before).  The move hasn't

Yes.  As I listened to Around the Well, I remembered "Oh yeah, songs like these are the reason I really loved this guy".  It's poetic enough that it's work to decipher it, but it's not totally impenetrable.  "Belated Promise Ring" and "Morning", those songs are as good as anything on the last few albums.

"Best album of this decade… and the next"

A lot.

Yeah, when I first heard he was in that movie, I was ready to crap all over it, since I remembered the Funky Bunch days.  But I still don't think he has done any acting that has approached that level.  Three Kings probably comes in a distant second.

Since that movie referenced Star Wars (and I got that reference, BTW), and Star Wars had a number reference to THX 1138, what number reference does THX have in it from an even earlier movie? This is like the Kevin Bacon game for super movie number nerds.

Casablanca is great as well. I'll be honest— when they did on Blu Ray, I poked around to make sure, "Does it have the Ebert commentary on it?" Yep, on both Blu Ray versions that are available.
