Penderecki's "Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima" is not good for… well, just about any setting, really.
iPod shuffle from "Break on Through" by The Doors to "Particle Man" by They Might Be Giants… I'm not a big Doors fan, but the switch to TMBG was, in an intimate setting, unwelcome.
Ah, F… the rogue's D minus.
"Some fights, just can’t be won."
Pretty sure I heard Nick say something during the explanation of "True American" about the floor being lava. Awesome.
Squatting Lemur, Cowering Skink
I just noticed that, in the intro, the "note" Ben ends on when he says "… all my voice amplification needs taken care of" into the mic in that pseudo-robotic voice is the same note that the guitar fades in on for the theme song, and that they're kind of blended into each other. I wonder if they did that on purpose.
This also reminds me of Steven Hyden's wonderful article on the Grantland website comparing bands like this to Bob Dylan.
Hahahahaha yup @avclub-048bc561e4298fd42343fcd5fa0384f7:disqus - that's just about what I was thinking.
(Disregarding the unnecessary, flippant dismissiveness with which some people talk to each other on Internet comment boards when they wouldn't dare to do so in real life)
When Top Dog Chef started, I had hope that it might be bizarre-funny; it turned out to be incredibly corny and stupid. Although I did laugh at Sudeikis' "WHO'S AT THE DOOR? I'LL KILL YOU?" five seconds after telling the contestants not to freak out at the doorbell ringing.
I noticed that too! That's what they come up with during their month off?
C+ my ass. This was, top to bottom, painfully, embarrassingly unfunny and one of the worst episodes of SNL I have ever seen. A couple of funny moments, but not a single sketch, including WU, came close to redeeming itself. Ugh. What a waste.
I AM a moron- thank you!
Fine, but he's still not getting cast in the remake of "A Thoroughly Polite Dustup."
Just watched a few clips of this guy's act for the first time.
Yeah, that's what it was on the show too.
"Look at the beak on that bird" also calls back to Michael saying something to George-Michael in season two about fourteen year-old, pre-nose job Lindsday in a swimming cap looking like a falcon…
Belsnickel reminds me a bit of Bobbum Man.
