I just finished that about a week ago too. It was my first reading of a Klosterman book and I was kind of underwhelmed by it. A lot of the reviews I've read since made me think it wasn't maybe the best place to start with him - any suggestions?

Oh right, I'd forgotten about her! That whole Kroehner thing was a pretty on-going concern with Fisher and Sons though, so even though she wasn't actually there, she kind of hung heavy over the episode.

Yeah, I did remember that, just that after her brief bloody moment and Rico's comment about the nose job she didn't really apply so much. But like @TAGinMO:disqus says just below, she alludes to the theme rather than laying right out there for you like a lot of the ones in the previous seasons did.

I think I've finally hit the point where I stopped watching this season - this episode is all new for me. Just a few minutes in right now… not that I'm going to, like, live blog it or anything.

I've only just started Chuck Klosterman's I Wear the Black Hat. I'm not even 10 pages in yet, so I really have nothing to say on the subject. I've never read any of his books before so I'm not sure what I'm in for, but it looked like it could be interesting. I was at the bookstore to buy some chocolates I can't find

Glad to have you back Teti - I was vaguely concerned last week that no update meant they were yanking this feature. I'm relying on these things to get me caught up on this show because I've owned the DVDs for years, but never watched beyond part-way through this season! It may take a few more years, but eventually

@avclub-33c0b11e200dd2f9b60e169fe58b08cc:disqus Of all the ones I've read, my favourite was Microserfs, though I don't remember much of it so many years after having read it. Same goes for Generation X - enjoyed it, but have largely forgotten it, except for the format. I liked Eleanor Rigby quite a lot, but it doesn't

When I first watched this episode however many years ago, I never really noticed how strongly they draw the parallels between Nate and Lisa and his parents - it's not just the dream of his mother in Lisa's place or Lisa in the apron at the sink, but also in the dream/vision of his father, his father is wearing his

That scene makes my skin crawl. I get can't-deal-with-it embarrassed on other people's behalf (and so, I never could watch competition shows where they make a point of mocking bad singers/models/cooks in the opening episodes of try-outs) and that scene triggers that same have-to-walk-away embarrassment in me.

@avclub-82bb7d31835394f7d99bf81cc6334741:disqus I've got The Algebraist but have never read it - it's been on my shelf of "Books To Get Around To, Finally" for years and I keep skipping over it for some reason. I can't remember anymore why I thought it sounded like something I'd like.

I've never much liked Munro and always feel vaguely guilty about it like I'm a bad Canadian for not getting it or something.

I've been reading the Scott Pilgrim vs… books, via the library, but I'm stuck on the third book right now - we've had flooding and all non-essential city services are shut down while they assess the damages to the libraries in the flood zones.

When I first watched Six Feet Under, I had to borrow it one disc at a time from the library and could never seem to coordinate discs to get a couple in the right order at the same time. I put up with it all through seasons one and two, but I crapped out somewhere in season three (helped along by my not really liking

I didn't recognize it either, but knew something was up because it was too sad for a wedding song and then they closed the doors. It was a nice way to set the scene, but as plans go it seems a little ridiculous: I don't really picture someone plotting to murder all these people at a wedding and also getting the band

@avclub-6e3b2cb658a36cff9d66c3371c46c4a6:disqus  Thanks for mentioning this! I'd heard about it a while ago, but I rarely watch tv on tv, so I never got around to it, and then forgot about it. Anyway, you can watch it streaming on the cbc website (at least from in Canada), so I've just watched the first episode. Made

@avclub-15d496c747570c7e50bdcd422bee5576:disqus This is true - when I first watched Six Feet Under I had to borrow it one disc at a time and gave up half way through season three or four because I could never get the disc I needed at the right moment. (I lived in a different city then: different library set-up.)

My library as well, which is how I watched it. But I just ordered my own copy, because I like it enough to want to throw my bit of support behind it, and I want to rewatch it, but not on the library's schedule. (One week for dvds, even if it's a tv show with 23 episodes. Which is why I've never watched more than the

I was thinking the same thing, except that I'll probably wind up on a wait list… or, okay, maybe not, they've got two available copies, so I'll just have to wait for it to get transferred to my branch, which isn't so bad.

I wish I could be watching this along with everyone, but I'd borrowed it from the library and only had seven days to burn through it before it had to go back. Reading the review and comments makes me feel like I missed EVERYTHING by not savouring it slowly.

I assumed the Theon thing was a fact-finding mission - set him free, save him when he's being chased after, get him to trust you, find out what he really thinks (his only father had his head chopped off and he made the wrong decision…) and then save him or don't from there. Having revealed what he revealed, the
