I can't believe there's a Lego Christmas village. Now I just have to have a child to justify purchase of such a thing to myself.

I like PTA, but I'm weird in that I like each film he's made better than the last. So The Master is my current favorite, though I haven't seen Inherent Vice.

I actually left for another job where I have greater responsibilities, get paid more, and have been given more latitude to talk about the topics I care about. So in your mind, I may be falling, but at least I'm falling upward!

Thank you, everyone, for reading these as long as you did! Like all TV Club Classic features, the audience was always small, but, yea, it was mighty. I was really sad I didn't get to finish out the run of the show, but we'll always have seasons one through four. And that one episode about the uncle robot.

I am ranking and rating all of the Rankin-Bass specials for Vox. Consider that my contribution!

I think LITERALLY everybody who watched this show that would have voted on the year-end awards has left the publication. I guess Zack's still here.

The Master MIGHT be my favorite film of the decade so far? It's DEFINITELY my favorite PTA.

I liked Noah! I had a whole paragraph about it in there, but I am also making it a personal goal to not have everything I write end up 2,500 words long, so out it went.

I've actually watched True Detective three times now and found it more disappointing each time. It's definitely a show I thought was improved by the fervor around it.

I think the Hitfix poll goes live Monday? I would not put a lot of stock in what I did there, though. I forgot a lot of things that I really loved, particularly on the "new shows" ballot.

I had POI on my list for Hitfix for a long time, then bumped it in favor of something else. But if I do a list for Vox (something I'm mulling), I may bump it back in. The bottom half of my top 10 this year is very volatile.

Nah. I firmly believe that Rodriguez signed on for a year and only a year. Her movie career was solid enough at the time that she wouldn't want to spend years on a TV show that filmed as long as Lost did. Then, as mratfink says, they realized people wouldn't really care if and when she died, so they sacrificed Libby

Christmas Shoes is worse as a song, work of art, window into humanity, etc. But it's also dumb, saccharine slop. Easy to ignore.

TRUE STORY CORNER:

Nah. Wedding/Baby/Makeover/etc. Story were all TLC's first tentative steps into the "lifestyle" reality genre, which would evolve into what the network is today.

The vote was pretty overwhelmingly in favor of it, but there's been a lot of turnover in the list of people who were voting. So I don't know!

I am willing to bet the initial conception of the Others was very much in line with being in league with the Smoke Monster, and then Michael Emerson was just SO GOOD…

The Others in season two are basically just the conduit for Lost to vent all of its September 11-related issues. They are at once the terrorists and the U.S.' response to the terrorists, and it never quite works, but there are some cool ideas and images throughout, so I forgive it.

Piecat only appears to the most sincere of Parenthood viewers.

I ALWAYS KEEP MY PROMISES!!!!!!!
