Also at midseason. ABC HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.

Eh, Fishburne is just recurring. He was originally announced as a regular, then was mysteriously demoted to recurring. My guess is that he can film both pretty easily.

Sure, but both of those shows were mid-level programmers their networks moved around a lot. ABC is placing a much bigger bet on this show than old ABC or Fox ever did on those earlier shows. (I guess Bernie Mac was in the Sunday night bloc for a bit.)

Just repeat to yourself it's a feature the three of us try to do in as little time as possible because we have many, many other things to do, I should really just relax.

Well, I mean, we DID mention it was on tonight! But the goal has never been to be comprehensive, and the section titles are not diehard guidelines. Erik really likes Trophy Wife, and tonight is its series finale. What's wrong with him highlighting that?

Don't worry. They're at midseason.

I really think ABC is just writing off that 8 p.m. hour. SHIELD at 9 makes a lot of sense (it's smart counterprogramming to everything else that's on, especially if CBS moves NCIS: LA as rumored). The network has too many problems to focus on all of them at one time, so it's just going to focus on a couple.

It's an incredibly smart strategy. I don't think it will work, really, but at least it's trying something different.

The network promo blurbs are pretty bad this year. The NBC ones were particularly dire. The Aquarius one was all about hippie-punching, basically.

The producers of Goldbergs actually requested the move, because they thought they had a higher upside on Wednesdays. I tend to agree, actually. It'll be a really smooth fit between Middle and Modern Family, and it should be ready to take over for The Middle in a couple of seasons.

Oh, right! He's pretty good, but he's also frequently playing "Adam Baldwin."

I liked Glass quite a bit, but that might be my latent deference to religious authority figures kicking in. Thought Tudyk was strong. Thought Staite was pretty strong (and she's sadly had the weakest career post-Firefly). I think we've listed everybody now?

Lewis is getting left out. I expect Daniels will be back, because they rarely dump someone the year after they win, and the HBO voting bloc is the largest. Thinking Harrelson gets in too.

Nah. The nice thing about writing WOTs for the same day every week is that you get a sense of what is running and what isn't and what might be in reruns and what won't. That's much harder to do when you're picking up from scratch.

Well, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, it's "What Todd Watches"!

Erik just doesn't watch POI, and it's always easier for us to blurb shows we actually watch.

I actually don't think Spader will be nominated.

One of the reasons Firefly is the only Whedon show I think is strong all the way through is because it has his most consistent cast, top to bottom. There are some weaker performers in there (Summer Glau has very limited range, and Sean Maher is… fine), but it's anchored by two really strong actors and has a variety of

I'm summarizing why I think the show got such a huge blowback from people. The next paragraph is about why I don't really think it works as a kids' show.

And Doctor Who's not exactly a massive success. Though, granted, the ratings it pulls now would get it renewed for a few years on most networks, particularly on Saturdays. But it's still very niche.
