I'm a little confused as to how they won that match. Weren't they down two, making the last round win only 2-1? Do you get extra points for a knockout? It bugs me a little bit to not really understand the stakes of the game besides the commentary.
Watched the Last Waltz and listened to all the Band's albums in memory
of Levon Helm. On Saturday I went to see John Prine. Josh Ritter was
supposed to open for him but couldn't make it due to illness, which was a
bummer. John Prine was great though, it's amazing how much energy he
can still bring to the stage.
I saw him a little more than a year ago, and he was able to sing a few songs. It was an enormously fun concert, and the Band songs they closed with just killed.
Hey, I saw A Winter's Tale at the Yale Repertory theater free, for a high school thing. I didn't really like it at all. The drama in the first act was alright, but in the second act it just devolved into really slap sticky comedy (a fat clown falls down while running multiple times) and there was a happy ending. It…
The AV Club was like that until the Great Commenting Revolution.
Hey, it's not their fault. There was obviously insufficient foreground lighting.
I'm hoping Toph herself is still alive, although I'm sort of disappointed that she had a child. It seems out of character. The over-reliance of the old series in general is my only qualm about the pilot, but it's only a tiny one.
Public School in CT. I think we're probably one of the better schools in Connecticut but we're not really that exceptional. Maybe schools have just changed or maybe I'm just really lucky.
I'm currently a high school senior and my reading list has been pretty expansive. It covers all the standad stuff that people have been mentioning, but also makes a pointed effort to get away from dead white men. We read Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston, Cormac McCarthy (!), Tim O'Brien, Tobias Wolff, and others…
Thanks guys, I think I'll start out with the Kree-Skrull war.
I want to read some Avengers comics before the movie comes out, and would appreciate some suggestions on what to read. I tried starting from the beginning, with the marvel masterworks series, but really couldn't get into that writing style. Any mini gateway to geekery?
Jay S. I think the Venture Bros. get their dues around here. Unless you were only talking about current shows.
I stumbled upon it similarly to to Tom Cruise, but pretty quickly forgot about it. I also remember some other article where an English class was having a professor facilitated discussion of some book but I forget where.
Am I the only one that saw that as a Walter White reference, what with the wanting power line and all? Maybe I've been watching too much breaking bad.
I might buy the argument that it is supposed to suck if Tina Fey didn't say in Bossypants that would've done the traditional three camera sitcom format if the network didn't want them to do single camera. She said they just did it because it was the trend, and complained about how much harder it was.
Fear not, your concerns will be dealt with in future episodes.
I'm wondering if any of you guys complaining even watched the episode or are just trolling. The Seinfeld references were nothing less than overt, and to the op, it was obvious that the waiter told Gervais that they were getting him a bottle of wine, and he then picked one off the menu without looking at the price…
I just started BSG, and it is annoying the hell out of me that both genders are addressed as sir, with no ma'am. Maybe there is a reason for it but it is extremely distracting for me.
