I don't understand the attacking of individual faiths/books. Except for extreme fundamentalists who believe that their religious text are to be taken literally (and these people are demonstrably wrong) no one believes that these texts are anything other than a collection of stories that teach lessons, both moral and

eh, even Don Bluth didn't have the Don Bluth magic by the 90's

I want to ride in a hrududu

That's a fantastic shirt! if only I was in the market for another t-shirt…

Thanks for the links, NEbusj. I knew the story about the strip, but not about her finances.

so, quick follow-up: what are some of the best Criterion versions to get? A number of the films can be had in less expensive versions. I know all Criterios editions are awesome, but what are the best? Which ones really make paying the extra worth it?

Murdered with hobby horses made in shop class? That's awesome, and now I really want to know what movie that is. I had plans to make a short film based on the title 'The tri-square murders' once.

Orgy of the Dead has plenty of breasts, and its still not worth watching.

When Pulp Fiction came out on video (I love how this has devolved into PF memories) a friend of mine who hadn't seen it invited several people over to watch it. We'd all seen it before, and had a great time, laughing and having fun. I don't think she found a single moment funny, and spent the whole time being

I complete agree about the sound in this movie. It's one of my favorite movies in terms of the use of sound. I love how once she loses it completely the seemingly innocent sounds from earlier in the film come back to have entirely different meanings.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Criterion sale!

I *really* hate having to say this, but seeing REM live for the Monster tour was one of the biggest disappointments in my concert-going lifetime. Aside from Mills, they all just kinda stood there and played. They had the big screens with images, and it was like they were content to let those be the entertainment.

Future Plans
Have they announced which albums are going to get the Deluxe treatment in the future?

Are you saying that the Femmes never again recorded an album that reached so many people, or that they were never as good? Because I disagree with the latter. Hallowed Ground is awesome. And Why Do Birds Sing is the closest they've come to matching the feeling of the first album.

Monster and NAIHF are good albums, but in all honesty I *never* reach for them when i want to listen to REM. Frankly, as much as I loved it, I don't think I've even listened to Automatic in years. When I want to listen to REM now, I pull out Fables, Reckoning, Document, Pageant. Those are the four I always come back

It's like Pynchon decided to cash in and write a sequel to Where is Joe Merchant…

Sorry, meant to include this in my other post:

AVC featured the IFComp winners? How the hell did I miss that? Nice going, kids!

I saw the NIN/Bowie tour, and it was so incredibly depressing to watching 40% of the audience walk out after NIN was done. They walked out on David Fucking Bowie!!!

I love playing TT games on the Wii, but Nintendo is screwing them over. If you buy the whole 5-ep series on the PC, you get a fairly large discount. ($33 vs $50, I think) but there is no full-series discount on the Wii, entirely due to how Nintendo controls the pricing on downloadable content.
