…no, they weren't.

Jesus, how about another topic besides "THE 90's," AV Club? It would sure make a nice change of pace.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I thought this movie was hilarious. You are all wrong.

"Characters", even well rendered ones, are NOT human beings. They absolutely CAN be objectified easily and the rules of engagement you are applying to real, actual humans do not also need to apply to fictional creations. But I take your point, and I do plan on checking out the longer cut of MARGARET to see if I'll see

I just said I hated it. I didn't say you should. I also recognized that my fury regarding privilege could be a blind spot of mine and not the fault of the director's. It's honestly okay for people to not like the same things you do, fellas. No need for all the butthurtedness. And I don't think Margaret as a character

I am one of those who hated MARGARET. From Scott's review it doesn't seem like the extended cut will change that. There are definitely some scenes that are worth watching, but the world of privilege that Margaret operates inside infuriated me endlessly. That's not Kenneth Longerman's fault, but it kept me from

Guess that wasn't a problem for me. They were easily one of the loudest bands I've ever seen though (along with Dinosaur Jr).

Noel: I saw MBV on that same tour with Dinosaur Jr. in 1992, at the Masquerade in Atlanta. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I STILL remember losing my balance (!) because the roaring effect of the sound mixed with the red laser strobes the band was using in lieu of stage lights messed with my inner ear!

SO, so true. Thank you both.

Can't wait. Nabin, I am one of those 40-year-old fans who still engage with and love hip-hop, but I know your approach will be fascinating. Also, I gotta say- please check out Killer Mike's "R.A.P. Music". You might be surprised.

At last, someone found a way to make Jeff Mangum EVEN SHITTIER! By ruining a bunch of great hip hop! YAAAAAY
