She's been the only woman to win two Grammy album of the years in what's still a sexist industry. Awards don't count for a lot, but that counts for something. She writes her own music, music that appeals to millions of different backgrounds and tastes. I think its wholly unfair to chalk that up to her appearance.

But she very clearly does have talent. You don't have to liker her but she's written and performed songs that have appealed to massive amounts of people from different walks of life. That takes talent, if nothing else.
