Yeah that RDJ performance is one of very few good fake Aussie accents. It's on TV rather than film but have you heard Trevor Noah's Australian accent? It is pretty good. He has an awesome Nigerian accent too.

I think it's tougher for a really famous actress like Meryl Streep because you know what she usually sounds like, and even if her accent is perfect it is going to sound incongruous coming out of her mouth.
I always thought Guy Pearce does a pretty good American accent. Think Memento, LA Confidential…
Her Australian accent in Evil Angels (A Cry in the Dark in the US) was not quite right and a source of much eye-rolling in Australia. "A dingo took my baby."
I still like that Doctor Who line:
"You said it was a nightmare!"
"No, it was a really good… mare…"
I know. In a car it's nothing!
I'm sure there will be the odd incident. I think large-scale violence is less likely than just four more years of inane protests, hysterical rhetoric and worst of all more bloody-minded legislative gridlock. Which is bad enough. Why should any other nation look to America as a model of democracy when nothing gets done…
Now I live near a big park where the local schools run inter-school cross-country meets. These are not compulsory, you have to do a sport but you can choose anything. And I still see a dozen or so fat kids trailing off the back of the field. I feel bad for them but why would you not choose something like table tennis…
This was in Australia. House cross-country running. It was only about a mile and a half through a park but everyone had to do it, no matter how unfit or uncoordinated. The really unfit kids just ran until they were out of sight of the teachers and then walked the rest. I had enough pride to run the whole way but it…
Man, I don't know how much more of this I can read. I feel like I'm back in school doing a mandatory cross-country run and I'm just at the stage where my lungs are burning and my brain has switched off and my legs are somehow running of their own volition and I should really just stop before I veer off into a ditch,…
Yes, it is very detailed about their relationship before the kidnapping, her treatment in North Korea (whereas he was imprisoned and tortured for three years, she was treated like royalty pretty much from her arrival) and the final chapter is a recent interview with her (she's still alive and back in South Korea). It…
Not too far off. In the book "A Kim Jong Il Production" it talks about how he had always dreamed of making it big in Hollywood. He was the biggest director in South Korea in the 60s and then his career started to go downhill. He wanted to move to the US and revive his career in Hollywood. Shortly before he was…
I read that too, but I didn't buy that theory at all. North Korea kidnapped plenty of people and he makes total sense as a strategic target, particularly after they got his ex-wife. And once in North Korea, it makes total sense he would just say whatever they told him to say in official broadcasts. I would.
Well, he was imprisoned and tortured for his first three years in North Korea before he was allowed to make movies. So that part was not so comfortable.
I do like the bit where he's introducing himself to random strangers in NYC. I went to university in Melbourne. There was an indigenous guy there who had just moved to Melbourne from central Australia. He said he spent the first week or two saying hello to every stranger he sat next to on public transport, until…
Yeah, whenever one of my early picks starts slowly, my approach is generally to throw a tantrum and sit them on the bench until they produce at least one good game. It usually backfires spectacularly.
I started Blount, but only because I'm so so mad at Todd Gurley.
Ok, so I was thinking of the pick up price. If you are sober, it is no problem to go pick it up. If you're drunk, money is irrelevant.
It isn't that frozen pizza is bad - the basic combination of bread, cheese and ham is going to taste okay in any form. It's the knowledge that for a dollar or two more, you could at least be eating fresh chain-store pizza. As crappy as Dominos or Pizza Hut pizza is, it is a million times better than any frozen pizza…
Yeah the lime and black pepper are okay. What I don't care for is when those boutique brands call their chips "balsamic and pink sea salt" or something like that. Don't bullshit us: it's salt and vinegar.
