@astro scientician: I believe it's generally considered to go from the years just after WWII (late 40s) all the way until 1962 or '63.

If the place were Chuck's and he followed the same naming pattern as Sneed's place, it would be Chuck's Suck and Fuck.

I was born at the tail end of the 50s (August '59). My first clear memories of pop songs were early 60s things I heard on the radio in my dad's car, stuff like Petula Clark's "Downtown," Roger Miller's "King of the Road" and "Watching All the Girls Go By" by whomever did that (too lazy to Google it)…

@Skunk Ape: "Petula Clark or Juice Newton"…?!?! Let me guess, you were born in 1959, like me, but in about 1964 you went into a coma, only to be revived in the mid-80s, haha…the only way to incorporate those two singers into early pop-song memories…

@The Holy Hand Grenade: you are SO full of shit. Where did you get your "linguistics degree," was it a prize in a Happy Meal??

I have to say, Todd Rundgren really blew me away live (in 1979), even if I don't go apeshit over all his music, I've seen very few performers exude such sheer energy on stage…fairly tore up the guitar too, he did.

Fallen Angels
I know it's kind of a "holy grail" for Wong Kar Wai fans, but with very good reason: if it ever really existed (one could probably compile most of it on one's own with some effort), the OST for Fallen Angels would kick ass, from Laurie Anderson on the jukebox to that

Another thing that somewhat takes the wind out of the sails of the "church-sponsored" revelation is that while WWII was going on, many church-affiliated folks in the US (like that evil Catholic Cardinal in Boston with the radio show, can't remember his name) actually supported the Nazis! But I'm splitting hairs, haha.

I'd like to think it was Alice Cooper at the Whisky…
…on one of the nights they famously emptied the place. But probably not.

Nicolas Cage as SEAsian celebrity
I lived in Thailand for six years, you would be amazed how big this actor is over there…in both Cambodia and Thailand, the dude has "one name status"…which means he's known only as "Nicolas". some others? "Pamela" (Anderson, 'natch), "Brittany"…you get the idea.
