From the little-noticed final depths of this thread…I'll cast my vote for Margaret Mahy's The Changeover.  Great romantic plot for a YA book, and a setting that starts out 'ordinary' and then gradually introduces supernatural elements in a totally convincing and fascinating way.  I may have to read this one again soon.

I really liked Last Night in Twisted River, too.  I actually did think it was his best in years, although I can't see him ever hitting the peak of Garp/Cider House/Owen Meany again so there's always a little bit of built-in disappointment in each new Irving book for me.

Something about that book was always unsettling for me too.  Yeah, the characters end up staying in Narnia, but 'almost everyone's killed in a massive train accident' is still pretty jarring, even if the allegory is consistently so obvious.  I don't know if I was disturbed more by that or by the no-longer-believing

Just played this game.  Smashed into some sheep, ultimately emerged victorious.  Upon starting you're prompted to 'TELL BALKI ABOUT THE DREAM YOU ARE CHASING' and when you finish you see a list of other players' dreams.  The first one I see is 'Eiffel Tower

DiCaprio's continually expanding/puff-ifying cranium rubs me the wrong way. If it keeps up at this rate he's going to be Ted Kennedy in 10 years.
