I don't have that to the same extent, but I definitely agree re: egg sacs, and most of all honeycombs/hives. I cannot stand looking at them. Freaks me the fuck out.

Oh, absolutely. I actually had historical examples in mind at first, but I thought "Haven't you ever studied the collapse of the Ming Dynasty?" might have less resonance.

Yeah, but if any society tends more towards outrageous xenophobia and uninhibited human nature without intellect than our current one, it's a post-apocalyptic one. Haven't you ever seen Mad Max?

Fifty years, actually, 1947-1995. I weirdly thought it was hilarious that it was just the same guys sitting around the same room, now with terrible wigs.

my favorite was the split-second of smoke signal sky writing

This is weirdly sweet. You do you, kiddo.

I was a little confused by Amy's costume (who dresses up as a Christmas character for Halloween?). But Gina's was a fantastic callback to her ideal career: bullfighter.

now I'm just sad that didn't happen

Even better, she said "vis a vis" Charles' appearance. Which, at least in my anecdotal and imperfectly remembered experience, is a phrase that gets used in writing far more than in actual conversation. Which is probably why it just struck me as such a particularly Gina thing to say.

All very true, but I was definitely expecting them to be a bit more apologetic at the end. I mean, they obviously got their comeuppance with Amy's victory and they called her an "amazing detective/genius" and whatnot, but there's a difference between being put in your place for your douchey behavior/actually

Brooklyn 99 would've fit comfortably with the NBC comedy lineup circa 2010, I'd say.

You've obviously never been to Missoula. If you're ever looking to visit, you'll find it somewhere left of Portland.

I definitely considered that phrasing, but Harry strikes me as particularly hapless. The whole idea of the monarchy is definitely an insulting charade, though.

"…a hapless sap roped into an insulting charade who is getting off on a sense of power and control he did nothing to merit."

How can you doubt his leadership? He's an I9C3G6!

That's exactly how I felt when Esther Williams died. "Esther Williams was still alive???"

As a Missoula Children's Theater alum, I take offense at that statement. Mostly because I'm immediately suspicious about someone who would know what the MCT is but think that it's spelled Britishly.
