I'll second Hardcore History. Someone recommended it here a week or two ago, and I haven't been able to get enough of it. That series he did on the Roman republic was fantastic.

@avclub-e5e462dbdab8681caf0932a25f529297:disqus You forgot Leonard Pierce and Elegant Victorian Lady. Clearly you're a fraud!!!!
Everyone can stop commenting on this review now. Shih Tzu just won.
It should really be done in a 3 panel strip like Peanuts.
"Or maybe he saw the Uncharted 3 rap, hates black people and dummed down the score."
Of course! Its been staring us in the face the entire time, how could we not have seen it? This game got a less then perfect review because Scott Jones is a racist. Obviously!
Is this such a terrible way to build a game though? Is it any different from an author who has a beginning and end to a novel in mind, and then fleshes the rest in as the book is written? I can see how this leaves room for things to go wrong, but you could say that about any approach to creating something couldn't…
Wheels within wheels! WHERE DOES IT ALL END?!?!?!?
Yeah but the rest of us will get satisfaction from the bickering, trolling, troll-baiting, insulting, and hysterics. In my book that's a win.
@avclub-fbefa505c8e8bf6d46f38f5277fed8d6:disqus I've heard that before, but it always kind of struck me as backwards thinking. Surely more people read the content online then what's in print. Write a review with at least some depth for the online readers, then edit it down to essentials for print. I've never…
I'm a little surprised that people are complaining about the climbing set pieces. They're one of my favorite parts of the games. That one in part two where you have to climb the gigantic dagger so you can plunge it into the statue? I loved every second of that.
I love the Uncharted, but it really has nothing to do with the gameplay. Its the story, the big set pieces, and the platforming that isn't very challenging to play, but is usually pretty cool to look at. I can see people hating on these games (I haven't played the new one yet), but for me they're one of the rare…
The video game reviews used to be the highlight of my avclub week back when flame wars broke out more or less regularly. Its been a while since there was a good one, but I'm confident this review will change that. Now all we need is that one troll who used to lecture the reviewers on their grammar and it'll be just…
I like DAG a lot, so I tried to get into this one. I have to agree with Cinedouche though. Those sound effects are unbearable. I couldn't even finish the episode.
That Sal Masekela episode was awesome. I almost didn't bother with it because of the episode length and the fact that he's not really involved in anything that I care about. But he had such an interesting story.
Holy shit that ghost mom was the funniest thing I've heard all week.
In Our Time is one of my favorites. The recent episode on the Chinese exploration vessels from the 1400's was fascinating. And this week's about the fall of Tenochtitlan was interesting, but definitely had that thing Logoboros was talking about, where a bunch of phd's try to take a really complex situation and boil it…
A B+ seems really generous. I played it, and while there was nothing I disliked about it, there was nothing about it that really excited me either. Actually I take that back, there was something I strongly disliked: the little orphan girl in the hot air balloon made we want to mute the television every time she opened…
Yeah that's an almost perfect live album. A nice selection of everything he'd done up to that point, played differently enough from what he'd put on his albums to be interesting. The only complaint I have is the awful stage banter. *speaks in monotone* "Please cheer when you hear music you like. Thank you."
I'd probably be interested in a tighter style of show as well. At the very least just less aimless rambling. I've tried to get into this podcast two or three times, and always lose interest. The Leonard Maltin Game is pretty fun though.
I'll agree that his music is pretty amazing, to the point where I'd even defend a few (but only a few!) of the tracks off of Outsider. But I don't think I've ever read an interview with this guy where I came away impressed. I often get the impression that he's kind of backwards in some regards. Did anybody see that…
