Well, they only have to feed them till they are "Mean Green" sized (which only takes 2 or 3 human-sized meals to achieve), at which point they become mobile & able to eat people on their own. Then it happens just like a zombie apocalype, in that they eat & grow exponentially and we are quickly overwhelmed.
