A superb autobiography by a man who is surely one of the greatest writers of the previous century.

Then get on it, my good man.
Scott's description and your great metaphor have just sold me on it.
Fair play, Todd and thanks for replying. I still think you were a bit harsh in asking for HoC to experiment or push boundaries with its story and/or form when its format is already unique for the moment, Netflix couldn't take that much a risk for their first show.
The FCH column is absolutely not.
@avclub-2d0cca95ad6a2061d208d765e79af478:disqus,
Hmm, I think TV's format is only the way it is because of the business model, it;s got nothing to do with the art or the entertainment wrapped around the money making ads. So really freeing up small screen stuff to experiment with formatting is a good thing.
I think Todd has been against this Netflix experiment from…
Only the hot ones.
Aaaaaarrrrrrrgh. NO. FUCK THE FUCK NO.
The only insight is unintentional in that it shows up an incredibly base, macho load of bollocks that only idiots or warmongers actually believe.
"oppressively sensitive progressive that doesn’t seem to exist anymore."
Ah damn, that really sucks. He did a great audiobook narration of The Last Werewolf if anyone wants more of his dulcet tones and a horror/fantasy fix.
A broken love egg actually.
You don't need to be conflicted, you're getting one persons opinion from the above comment versus what you've seen and heard yourself.
Yes he makes jokes about women and jokes about rape, he makes jokes about all manner or things, it does not make him a misogynist or even a sexist.
@avclub-3521a3a5bcfea0fe1189f8bc13af1f99:disqus The show has played murder, accidental shootings, torture, sodomy, infidelity, drug addiction, babies getting drunk and a million other nasty things as hilarious. That you get offended about the rape and none of the others just shows up your stupid posturing. Well done.
I like a hell of a lot of what he does in Spiders - giving Amy much more agency is the very best decision, the zombie hipster team getting fucked up (oh how sweet to read when you know fools like that in real life), the hilarious Raylan Givens-esque cop. Sure I was disappointed it revolved around one major event and…
The book and it's sequel are great (even thought "Spiders" seems to disregard a huge amount of the first one) but the film, I'm really sorry to say is pretty bad. Awkward pacing, misses out on important character stuff; the low budget really hampers it, not so much in the effects which have certain charm but that they…
He has servants to do that for him.
But everyone hates floating head posters.
^ Possibly the greatest compliment I've ever been paid.
I dunno, Julian Fellowes, arch tory cunt that he is probably wasn't making a series that puts the decline of the rigid class system in a positive light. Most people view it as apolitical, which is a great trick.
