There were times watching the episode that I though maybe this was a dream one of the characters was having.  For example, Esposito is talking to Kate and then looks away for literally a second and then she vanishes from the conversation without a trace.  That was pretty weird and I thought, "Hmmm maybe they were

I have to say he holds a gun very well for a character who doesn't typically use a gun.  A nice Weaver grip, if I remember.  He was only 15 feet away and had accurate aim enough to shoot him in the body without hitting Kate at least once, so a headshot is not unreasonable.
