I absolutely hated Moulin Rouge! when I saw it the first time in the theatre.  Just couldn't get past the modern songs as deep insightful poetry concept.  But I was dragged along to a second showing and did a complete 180 in opinion.  Now it's in my "If you only had three movies to take to a desert isle" list.

The turtle bit has the best comedy timing.  Raul's delivery is perfect and then he calmly licks the bottom of the turtle and throws it on the ceiling.  It kills me every time I watch it.
