Interesting take, but for me it's a question of scope. He introduced all these great characters in the first couple books and then kept adding more, and quite frankly, they just aren't as interesting as the originals.

I think Seuss is completely overrated and that his books were influential because pre Seuss most kids' books were of the Dick Jane and Spot variety.
