So you're glad Speed Racer was 129 minutes?
Guy with the green ski mask
Who is the guy with the green ski mask playing bass with them in the "Control" video?
"My mom told me to be very careful on the bus because there's always one weirdo on there who could be up to anything. Well, I got on the bus and looked around… and I couldn't see him!"
Amazing. MacKaye is a working artist (The Evens) and Fugazi/MT still exist in living (pop) memory. And yet there is already debate about what he's said on the record on many occasions. Yes, he wrote a song called "Straight Edge" when he was a teen. Many other, lesser band picked up the idea, militarized it and made it…
Yea, I read Watchmen when it cam out (I was 13 or 14?) and I loved it but now realize that probably well over half of it went over my head.
You say Gary Young only has two drum beats? I say Pavement only has one song so he was OVER qualified.
And he did a Richard Pryor/Gene Wilder movie, so… there's some poetry for ya!
When I was interning at a recording studio I got to assistant eng on a Chuck Berry session. He's exactly as you'd imagine. That was a lot of fun.
Oh, so now *"The Eternal"* is Sonic Youth's big "comeback"? "Cause I was told it was told it was "Rather Ripped". And before that I was told it was "Murray Street". Critics (not just you, Heller): Please actually *listen* to Sonic Youth or else quit referencing them in your work. "The Eternal" was no breakout album…
Hold on, so when Kid f'n Rock sings "American Badass" he thinks America is the "worst country on earth"? I think KR-King of All Hipsters would beg to differ, sir.
Nobody gives, nobody gives, nobody gives a daaaaamn.
" Mercury recites the lines "Don't try suicide / you're just gonna hate it" as if he's Rip Taylor urging someone not to order the veal."
You know, Cross deserved a Golden Globe (GG) award simply for being able to say half of those lines on Arrested Development (AD) with a straight face (SF). I bust up just *thinking* about them.
Just lost a patient… AGAIN!!!
(the first couple was facing the "loss of their children," which seemed like the most trumped-up-for-TV bullshit ever)
But that's exactly what happened to the lady whom we saw in the preview for the next Hoarders. So, not bullshit.
I liked DK2. And I re-read it a few months ago and I *still* liked it.
BTW, don't get me wrong; I am human and feel for Staley' friends/family as well as Staley himself. But that said I couldn't stand AiC. They were trying to glam-funk it until Soundgarden got big(ger). You can even hear a little bit of it on the first album. But they meant a lot to the kids, so….
I love how Dick put a "fictional" book in "Castle" where the author tells a story about what the world would be like if the Allies had won WWII. Clever, that.
Meaning, you're not missed even after being incommunicato for so many days.
Of all the 90s era drug/grunge deaths I thought Staley's might have been the saddest. Apparently when he was found he'd been dead for something like 10-12 days. Meaning, no really missed him for almost 2 weeks. Very sad place to be in life.
