Adding to Jordo's quite poignant explanation is the fact that he's ready to kill Mongol for what he's done when those statues bring back all he's been given, experienced and learned not just in the Black Mercy's grip in the real world- how hard he's striven not just to be The Last Kryptonian but the best human being

The dividends paid off from watching the intial series, and even Superman TAS is astounding- the overreaching story arcs with Cadmus, the character work and relationships, its just so damn strong, compelling, well cast and performed, and the whole thing looks terrific- I have never seen a stronger, better actualized

How that doesn't get quoted in the body of the review is staggering to me- that's easily one of the top ten lines of the series entire, delivered with just the right blend of gruff affection… and genuine, gleeful menace.

Aside from Katma's incredibly sexy voice, this is one of those eps that doesn't quite do it for me- absolutely nothing wrong with it, but just enough "paint by numbers" that I'm not as engaged (doesn't help that its what.. third, fourth "overthrow the evil dictator" storyline?).  Its still solid- moreso than almost

Biggest failure of this subplot to me?  Over the past weeks Lisa has grown on me as a character (has in fact, been allowed to become a character rather than a slutty speed bump to the ever-tepid Maggie/Jim relationship), seems much more rational, fun, intelligent and emotionally stable than Maggie, underlined by the

Its very interesting to see how open and flirty Bruce is with Diana as "Bruce" whereas when the cowl comes on he tries very hard to keep her at arm's length.  Bruce uses her as his carefree playboy guise which fantastically backfires on him but later on in "Starcrossed" they'll take it a step further and interestingly

That alone?  Funny.  The orca then attempting some form of gurgled, muffled speech?  Comedy Gold.

Wow I have to look that up. That's like the time I was watching "Weeds" and Linda from Sesame was a social worker sent to assess Nancy's living situation- and deal with a load of profanity I had never thought to see uttered in the presence of a pillar of childhood education.

Ok that is terrific. I remember him barely from GI Joe but that he made his rounds on all of those cartoons is awesome.  Me, I just remember that one glorious moment from an otherwise mediocre episode of Transformers (the later season post-87-film) where an old arms dealer dressed like a 70's pimp with a two-way

I've never heard of the "Miami Device" though as we speak legions of AV club Commenters are putting the final polishes of what is certain to be some of the filthiest re-imaginings of this product ever to break the internet in two, but I can also sadly raise my hand in that for my Bar Mitzvah party I was decked out in

Also if you watch "Manhunter" you'll see much of Mann's signature style that doesn't really need the existence of "Scarface" to justify itself-it actually hurts the film by dating it with the synth-pop along the line- but the neon sunsets really provide the "Mann" look.
