I honestly never noticed that before. I'm seeing two tabs, one for all and one for replies, I thought it was only replies but then I rarely look at the notifications,.

Yeah, I thought it would be a bad idea but it's actually disappointingly reasonable.
I actually do like it better than what it replaced because of the ability to collapse threads. It has drawbacks for sure but on the whole it's a major upgrade.

My favorite Alex Chilton song is The Nomads' cover of "Bangkok" although "Thirteen" is also great. But for me a Best of Alex Chilton is just those two and "September Gurls", I don't need anything else, except of course some Box Tops songs on my multiple Best of Dan Penn compilations.
I've been pretty bad about finishing stuff for a while so right now I'm "balancing" The Moral Discourses of Epictetus with Jernigan, or vice versa. I just bought Good Morning Midnight on Sunday but I haven't really read anything in paper for a while so we'll see whether I actually get to it.
Maybe we can hire Matt Dillon to kick his ass.
Their commentariat seems better than most but there are still plenty of people to freak out and complain loudly anytime Patrick does go there. I think he would do more but it would be both bad for business and extremely frustrating.
I always thought college football fandom was a consolation prize for going to a shitty school, then I found out that people actually cheer for schools they didn't even attend, I don't get that at all.
Is Gerald McRaney's character still alive on Justified? I can't quite remember who he was. Anyway I'm sure he'll find work but Katee Sackhoff has been criminally underused since BSG and I was more than happy to watch her in this show, which was quite good by summer standards. I'm actually surprised more folks here…
I look forward to more from Goldthwait but it's a bummer that they won't work together again. I always liked Williams way better in drama than comedy but I loved him in Shakes the Clown even though he was basically doing the same schtick that annoyed me in his standup.
It's not a subgenre but it was the self-described gimmick of The Mentors which was the band in question. They were sort of funny, their peak being when their lyrics were read before one of the PMRC Senate hearings, "Bend up and smell my anal vapor/Your face is my toilet paper".
Do you have a strong opinion on the fate of Lucan? I would think you were comfortable with a bit of ambiguity.
I think the number of people who know the names of any of the Green Lanterns is pretty small compared to the audience of a hit superhero movie, which is about 1000 times greater than the circulation of the Green Lantern comic. The number who do know and skipped it because they don't care about Hal Jordan has to be a…
I didn't know there was a TED radio show on NPR until recently, the first time I heard it it featured Gladwell and damn, that shit was just as terrible as I would expect those three things together to be. Freakonomics is also terrible but their NPR show is not quite that bad.
I've hated Boing Boing since they were still in print form. Maybe not as much as Mondo 2000—I don't recall them being super into
smart drinks—but they were a real pioneer in that brand of bullshit intellectual cheerleading.
I used to work with a woman who didn't eat any fruits or vegetables, the only thing I ever saw her eat was Bagel Bites, every single day for years.
I love Fun House and I liked this album pretty well before I heard the real Stooges but I've only listened to it once or twice in the last 25 years. It's maybe 20% as good as Fun House but still an insult to the legacy of a great band.
Or it's a valid description of one's experience. I like some horror movies but I don't watch much because I've never been scared by a movie. I can't really even conceive how that would work, movies are movies, why would you be scared?
I feel like this kind of defensive reaction comes because people are worried that if the criticism is valid then it's not OK for them to enjoy the work (whether it's this or Daniel Tosh). I don't think that's the case, personally I like this kind of art and I like plenty of misogynist comedy too, and old wildly…
