I read the first two trade paperbacks and did not care for it at all. I thought the characterization was flat and the dialogue pretty bad, although things did seem to be improving slightly in the second trade. I admit I was coming to it after watching the TV show, so perhaps I had unfair expectations. Anyway, it

I lost it at Carol's "This was as close as I could draw him". Schaal absolutely killed at carrying most of this episode. It only got weaker at the points at which she was not talking/moaning/wailing in elaborate funereal garb.

I think we all know the real monster here. And it tastes like a motherfucking rainbow.

I'm actually pretty damn excited about this show. I've always liked shows with strong musical numbers, but most of them are so bad that I've gotten a little gunshy. Glee, Smash… I mean I guess Galavant had its moments.

Both Jane and iZombie have the excuse of using the title of the dumb source material they're based on. This show does not have that excuse.

I'm actually pretty psyched for Ex-Girlfriend. Could this be the Pushing Daisies substitute I've been dreaming of? Be still my cholesterol wracked TV-watching heart.

Ditto for me. The early trailer for this one just looked so awful. I should have known it would be a hit (or, rather, a hit by the sad and withered standards of contemporary NBC).

followed later in the evening by new episodes of Rick and Morty and Venture Bros.

Thanks for the identification! Glad that they didn't spend any money on their unbearably crappy titles, at least.

I'm frightened for the poor tiger.

I imagine not. My bet is on her reappearing at a fortuitous moment with some wealthy foreign royal on her arm. Some sort of Kenna ex machina.

Good review, Genevieve. Especially the parts about involuntary penis removal.

I'm still longing for a Count of Monte Cristo plot for Castleroy.

I loved how shitty the font was on those "England" titles. It looked straight out of an 80s fantasy movie with Sean Connery.

Nah, I'm with Amethyst.
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

No, you're absolutely right. Although as someone who was only really a fan for Mystery Incorporated I'm a little biased, I thought Cohn's work really brought a much-ignored character to the forefront.

13 years would be KOABD in voiceover terms, except that it's on a show for which Frank Welker has been voicing consistently for 46 years.

"What an asshole!"

Even if you don't dump her, you know what they say: The Cheat is not deaddddddddd!
