and so very DOCTOR WHO.

Barbara Clegg submitted a story outline in which a Time Lord regenerated into a computer. seriously.

also, the story didn't exactly hinge on the monster. it had, if I remember rightly, a minute or less screen time.

Davison!

I would include THE DIVIDE, PONTYPOOL and TOAD ROAD. initially I did not know if I "liked" TOAD ROAD but I will never forget it. I almost feel bad about recommending it because the actor playing the self-destructive main character died of an OD.

I have seen it. really good. I hope she will write and/or a feature.

called HUMAN NATURE, yes. with the books they really had to churn them out, so of course you have variable quality. (don't get me started on my thoughts on tie-in books…)

they changed quite a lot between the book and the series. the TV version sort of invented new villains. I consider the TV adaptation superior, mainly because the bad guys made more of an impression. more memorable. and it had the Martha subplot and the headmaster character.

let me point that story as an example of how DOCTOR WHO can do quite well without gratuitous silliness. (and you will find the other top-voted stories tend to not have that, too.)

post-2005 the (intentional) camp , over-the-topness and humor have ramped up a lot. (got pretty excessive during Seasons 15 through 17 and 23, too.) if I could dial back one thing in the series, I would make the series a bit more serious, actually.

Me (hate that name!) could die a lot more easily than a Time Lord, making her more mortal than them.

on Youtube you can find a hilarious video of Lalla Ward reading hate mail to her husband.

I guess if Jamie could handle Daleks and Cybermen and things without getting killed, he could handle Redcoats.

as a theatrical agent (what she does now), Janet Fielding has gotten at least one actor a job on the show. (maybe even Doctors and companions? I don't remember.)

OUTLANDER, the book series, originated as Jamie fan fiction. (not joking.) hence his appearing in the series. also Hines, not Hinds.

do watch it. you can appreciate it on an ironic level and possibly an un-ironic, tool. I sincerely do admire it as a film even if the ridiculous bits and possibly more so because of them. either way, an experience.

but will it have m-preg?

he did ask a black actor who turned down the part.

I think that they specifically don't allow them to do that, actually.
