Yes, but IMHO "I Claudius" is a work of genius, and although I think Rome was aspiring to be great on some level, I doubt that:

If I could turn back the clock and watch one show again for the first time - this would be it.
Even a mediocre episode of Cougartown is better than most shows, so a "B" from me.
I give Stillman some props for originality, but there seems to be an "Emperor's New Clothes" phenomenon going on here - critics are afraid their colleagues and their elitist editors will make fun of them for identifying this movie as the disembodied muddle that it is.
The actor who played "Dukie" (I think that's how its spelled) from "The Wire" has a small part in this - and there's a black girl with a bigger role.
Well it's different, I'll give it that.
I thought I was familiar with "16 Going on 17" as being a somewhat tedious old song, but some months ago I head it and had one of these weird flashes where suddenly the opening verse REALLY leapt out at me as being actually quite brilliant:
At least in England it seems like people still READ newspapers.
They should do some actual investigative journalism THEMSELVES into the interrelationships between Murdoch, the US govt, US law enforcement and other US mainstream media outlets, but I won't hold my breath.

He kept saying to the interviewer, "could you imagine such a thing happening in…
Either these guys are not very well versed in older films, or think that bringing them up will alienate the readership they are hoping to cater too.
Have you seen the Pride and Prejudice with Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier?
The absolute most amazing book-to-film adaption I have seen is Orson Welles "The Magnificent Ambersons".
I hope you are right that the case is not yet resolved - I had thought when Alicia recused herself it signified the case was over, Mathew Perry's character had won and Alicia did not come out of it with her hands clean, insofar as she urged the son to lay his cards on the table and then let him down.
Actually, it drives me CRAZY that so many people frame The White Ribbon in terms of the Nazis. Yes, the Nazis were terrible but there is more to Germany than the Nazis.
The great thing about the Sopranos ending is it allows for many interpretations.
