The best Dancing Chicken ending EVER
The best Dancing Chicken ending EVER
Lifetime achievement award for sad endings, Yasujiro Ozu (Only Son &
Tokyo Story my faves of these). In the same vein, the ending of "Make
Way for Tomorrow" (like being punched in the face).
When the government says 'top secret' - that's where REAL investigative reporting comes in.
I'm getting a little fed up lately with TV reviews on this site being written like semi-dissertations.
If the latest episode of "Two Broke Girls" got a "B" - this episode of MF should have gotten an A+++++++++
Not very good at reading between the lines, are you?
I agree with a lot of what you said in spirit (except Newsradio, ugh, a pale retread of The Mary Tyler Moore Show) - but one could claim Chuck Lorre shows fit the 'set-up — punchline' structure you describe, and in terms of ratings they are very successful.
As can be expected from Frontline - when it comes to the former Bush administration, they only 'investigate' up to a certain point and then stop asking questions.
A "B"? Seriously?
In the final moments, Tyrus was standing there in the room - he was one of the three.
The last season was a product of the TV Roseanne sitting in her basement writing goofy escapist fantasies to avoid dealing with her grief over losing Dan.
Enjoyed that - although for me the first season was for me still the best, this season was great thanks in large part to Giancarlo Esposito being put into the forefront, Gus was a great character.
The Wire was shot in Baltimore and used a lot of NYC actors, The Good Wife is shot in NYC so it is not surprising there might be some cross-over.
This show is so superior to most of the crap on TV that is supposedly 'quality' (Parenthood, Glee, what have you) - I can't imagine giving even a not-spectacular episode anything less than a "B".
The aim of most US media is to sell the American Dream to the masses - so the norm for TV shows is to reassure the public that 'its all good' with the focus being on the comfortable upper middle class or the rich.
You just can't take it when sitcoms go 'dark', eh?
"Roseanne" was one of the great sitcoms - so I am cautiously optimistic (I know people put down the final season of the show and while it was pretty much a failure, I think of it as a noble failure insofar it was a very interesting idea and took guts to push the envelope like that).
Maybe its called "Face Off" because Walt steals Gus' face via some very fancy plastic surgery (the whole racial thing could be a problem though).
One should not always take what producers, directors, actors (etc) say at face value and in this particular case I highly doubt Jesse was ever supposed to die so early.
Nice interview, but even from the beginning Gus has never seemed 'calm' as he's has struck me as very tightly wound from the get go (now to me, I would describe Mike as 'calm').
