I guess dirty motherfuckers are in style.  Honestly, my Daryl hatred has nothing to do with the character, the actor, or anything on the show.  I worked with a girl who was a total asshole who was obsessed with Daryl.  This was before I watched the show and it was my first exposure to the cult of Daryl.  Later, she

Murray on Letterman is like Walken on SNL.  Both of them seem to just go nuts in those particular contexts and lose all inhibitions for acting sane (in a good way).  It helps that they are two men who are insanely interesting with basically no effort.

I talked to someone about this and they were unimpressed by this specific incident and Bill's appearances on Letterman in general.  Then he compared Bill's late night TV shenanigans to Will Ferrell's.  The fuck?  The difference between the two is Will Ferrell is never himself and is always playing some character from

The only one I have that doesn't have original japanese audio is Godzilla 2000.  Godzilla 1985, Vs. Space Godzilla, Vs. Destroyah, Vs. King Ghidorah and Vs. Mothra (the 90's one) all are available in region 4 in original japanese audio with english subtitles.  Now mind you, some of the out of print ones and imports

From what I've seen of them I think I'll like them.  I mean, they may get goofy with timeline shit and retconning, butits Godzilla.  As long as there are men in suits destroying sets in a cool looking way, I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy them.  A lot of people I know are put off by the crudeness of suitmation but

Yeah I had to order some overseas copies.  Region Free Bluray Players for life!

Yeah basically.  I've had a few friends come over when I was watching an episode on several occasions.  I always offer to watch something else but they're always like "No it's fine."  And they stare blankly at me as I so obviously enjoy it (read: talk to the damn screen).  I think it is the only show I've ever seen

Three things.

I've only seen the American version.  I've never sought out the Austrian version because it is identical.  Mistake?

Fuck Daryl.  Glenn is my favorite easy.

As I was half-reading this while texting and watching Parks and Rec on netflix, "inescapable death" registered in my mind as "Inspectah Deck."  And I was really excited to see the Rebel INS referenced.  too bad.

@avclub-6f8df30e5abe03e0f27e381229a43a6b:disqus Yeah I'm always thankful for Tarantino.  And he does sometimes get pretty in depth, but you have to hunt.  I randomly found an audio recording of him discussing There Will Be Blood on youtube one time and he got pretty specific about what makes the movie work for him and

"Too many Spaghetti Westerns?"  What does this phrase mean? Is this gramatically correct?

I once looked at a still photo of Toshiro Mifune from his final hurrah in Seven Samurai for like 3 and a half hours.  And that wasn't even boring.  The rest of the movie notwithstanding, how can Toshiro Mifune ever be boring?

Fuck yeah!

Yeah I'm with you.  Pre-Leone, my favorite western is either My Darling Clementine or The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and the Ranown Cycle holds a pretty high place in my heart as well.  And I think my original comment probably didn't reflect my opinion of The Magnificent Seven as a movie so much as it did my

Seven Samurai is my all time favorite movie.  That being said, I think that The Magnificent Seven is good because it doesn't even try to duplicate one of the best parts of the original - Toshiro Mifune.  That probably has a lot to do with the difference in Japanese and American acting styles, especially at the time.

You're right, @avclub-b5706dc9508d67a01718c142ca80b8b4:disqus but think of it this way - without this movie we probably wouldn't have gotten any of his later work.  This was his major studio breakthrough and most likely earned him a lot of leeway to do what he wanted, which is all he has done since. Thus, I don't

I fully expected Walt to kill Jesse in the desert.  And when he didn't I started to question if the "vacuum repair" man was in fact there to give Jesse a new life, if you know what I mean.  But fuck.  Despite telling people that I thought Jesse would be Walt's downfall for months, I totally didn't see this coming

Tony Leung is one of my favorite actors ever.  When I tell people that they sometimes follow with, "You mean Chinese actors?" and I say, "No. Favorite ever."
