I'm an actor first & kind of fell into costume work to make sure I always looked good on stage. And you are absolutely right about everything.
But vanity always wins. Always.

I've noticed that many of the people (like myself) on this thread have admitted to being somewhat dim & not entirely grasping the novel (or the show for that matter).
THANK YOU PLATO/SOCRATES!
BooYa!
We win!

If I may suggest (& I hate to admit to this) but close captioning & the reverse button on your dvr are godsends.
I'm generally pretty good with British dialects, but Vinculus in particular speaks very rapidly.

No matter what I try, Comedy Central always cuts off my moment of Zen.
Pisses me off no end.

Take a look at a film called BEAU BRUMMELL: THIS CHARMING MAN starring James Purefoy. Not a perfect film, but very specifically charts the changing fashions of this very period.

It's kind of interesting that THE WALKING DEAD (another of my addictions) is dealing with somewhat the same idea (in, admittedly, a somewhat less subtle

Frankly, Hildur might.

Maybe. But I'm pretty sure anybody could let out an "inhuman" scream if they were being eaten alive by a 1000 pound polar bear.

My bad. Apologies. I did, genuinely, miss your point.

You do understand that everybody carries guns to protect themselves from polar bears, right?
I am a gun owner who happens to despise the NRA.
But in Fortitude they are a tool for basic survival.
And, lets face it, so far whose been shot? Billy Pettigrew, (that whatever the intention might have been, was in the end, a

Killing DCI Morton at this point would be like killing Marshal Will Kane 3/4 of the way through HIGH NOON.
Who else will take us by the hand & lead us through this icy land of batshit crazy humans & pseudo-zombies?
I may have missed something, but are we sure Dan handcuffed Pettigrew to the tower on the beach? Couldn't
