I was watching the shot of the eye on the ground and thinking, "This shouldn't work. This shouldn't work at all." But it totally did, because everyone around Kenny is as broken and strange as he is.

Did it remind anyone else of "Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)," Jason Schwarzman's seduction music from The Darjeeling Ltd. (and Hotel Chevalier)?

unnerving
Man, is there anything creepier than Hollis Green in broad daylight, just walking down the street? Maybe Bill's moment at the end. The camerawork and the sound in that moment were so … wrong. It was really successful in conveying just how out of sync everything in Bill's life was, lying on that floor.

You can tell they're paying attention…
…when they drop in Creed like that. Just the most perfect detail.

I was more counting on them to watch a lot of TV. :)

Well, she skipped an episode, so I doubt she'll die *next* week…

I just read this interview with Tim Minear, liked off of Whedonesque:

Does anyone else feel bad for Black Thought? Dude just has to stand there most of the time.

Well, but Esther was primarily a woman of faith. When she was blind but suddenly could see again, I think it could only strengthen her faith. She interpreted her newly sighted state as the reason she was drawn to the compound, and the fire just cinched it for her. I don't think Echo was on a different imprint or

On NBC?
I was a little unclear - the graphics seemed to indicate that this game was the Texas High School game of the week, but everyone kept talking about a national broadcast. Does anyone else see high school games on network TV on Friday nights? Real ones, I mean? I don't think I ever have.

I'm with you, Murray. This episode felt like being on the way to put out a fire, and stopping to ask a doddering gas station attendant for directions. We knew we were going to get the directions eventually, but not before we got a whole lot of disconnected tangents and stories about the one time there was that bird

See, now I think NPH could pull all of those things off, no problem. Still, I might giggle a little…

Hm. It kind of risks re-'Caleb'ing him, but maybe not. I also think he might be too rugged/unconventional looking. Alpha's gotta be a slick pretty-boy, right? Their first attempt to make a gigalo ninja genius? That's got to be someone for all occasions. I think he's a good fit for gigalo and ninja, but I'm not

I have to say, Wookiee, I'm also surprised by how fast they're flying through the mythology stuff, but I think Vim might be at least partially right. I don't know if joss really doubts the show's ability to have a second season, but he's probably got a "just in case" plan. I really believe, though, that he wouldn't

I don't think his atheism would keep him from treating The Bible like a collection of stories/mythologies at the bedrock of Western culture. I hope they take it easy though. Nothing like overwrought Biblical reference to drag a show down. Guessing by how awesome next week's preview looked though, I'm guessing

I'd say the grading wasn't too harsh, relative to other episodes of the show. There was a lot going on, but nothing particularly special. My favorite part was Matt's grandma and mom rushing off to the game. You could see that there was still animosity, but they were united in their love for Matt. It was a really

It feels lazy, but in my heart, I know that this is my answer. Even my runner up, "The City" by Dismemberment Plan worships at the Altar of "This Must Be The Place."

Oh man, why haven't I heard "The Stars Are Projectors" for like years? Thanks for reminding me of something that needed correcting.

@I find Tinsel: From what I've learned about the show, the creators aren't mormon (although they are gay), but they did like 3 years of research before they got underway. Dustin Lance Black, the guy who wrote Milk, is an ex-Mormon and gay, and is or was a writer and producer on the show for much of its run. in his

Twitter is the backchannel to my day. I suspect that it's kind of like having an IRC channel was. once upon a time, except you could stitch together several channels. Also, Twitter also seems to be better if you know the Tweeters - celebrity tweets tend to be self-promoting garbage. To that end, I hope that some of
