I recall this kind of bit in radio serials like Duffy's Tavern (1940), which started every show with a phone ringing and a man picking up sand saying, "Hello, Duffy's Tavern, where the elite meet to eat.  Archie the manager speakin'.  Duffy ain't here - oh hello Duffy."  Then a conversation with Duffy would start the

Don't forget Laundry Officer Captain Major, later Squadron Officer Major Major in Catch 22.

The only thing that could make me watch this is Spader.  I may tune in for an episode after the pilot (the trailer seemed to contain the entire show) just for him.

I'm waiting for the All New Murder She Wrote.  Blair Brown, Ellen Pompano, and Meckenzie Rossman star as Angela Lansbury's daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter.   Jessica Fletcher herself could show up in the pilot to pass the torch.

I can't acknowledge 1600 Penn has been canceled because I refused to acknowledged that it existed in the first place.

Oh, God, do I agree.

Thanks.  I should have checked the little button thing at the top of the page.

Why are you going straight to Unlimited and skipping "Justice League?"  They are the same show. "A Better World" is the launching point for the second season's arc, and the connections only grow from there.  Much of Unlimited's emotional resonance comes from the foundations laid in "Justice League."

The Galaxy Quest comparison is spot on.  Loves of the tropes, uses them well, great supporting cast, mostly concerned with making sure the jokes land.

I don't want to watch her have sex.  I want to watch her walking around my condo in one of my button down shirts.  Then maybe making some hot cocoa, and curling up with a book on the chair before announcing that she has to get up early for the table read tomorrow and is going to bed.  I'll turn on The Daily Show and

The Mandarin twist was great.  What's even more amazing is that in a few movies time they could actually bring back the Mandarin as a real person not unlike how they kept bringing Blofeld in Bond.  Kingsley was a decoy, Killian a lieutenant, etc.

The films are meant to just keep going and feeding into the next one.  They are doing a remarkable job taking the comics model and transitioning it to the film medium.  Stand alone stories that have minimal effect but don't really change things leading up to a mega-crossover that has some consequence.  They can't do

Icelandic?  Well, that explains a lot.

I listen to whatever I feel like at the time, usually while driving or hanging around the house.  I'm a teacher and I can't do it at work until the students are gone.

I love how the Cactoid Jim song cuts in to the main action.

To be fair to Aldo, the period between 1983 (Sunday in the Park with George) and 1993 (Kiss of the Spider Woman) is pretty much dreck.  If that's his experience with musicals I can see where he's coming from.  After 1993 they started to become more relevant to the cultural conversation, and the new century has been

D-list celebrity dating, a D-list celebrity game show, singing competition, weight loss, a fashion show, and SNL reruns in prime time.

Fun episode, but the pacing was just a mess.  It made me wish that Dr. Who was half hour serials again.  Ep one sets up the world, ep to is Clara discovering the Queen of Years back story, ep 3 brings the ceremony and "something goes terribly wrong" and ep. 5 saves the day.  I think much of series 7 could do with a

I've been defending Pierce this season (and often getting called crazy on the boards for it).  Chevy has been great, and the character has been showing some humanity and growth.  This is the best the character has been, and I'm confused as to why he would want to leave.  Glad to see others jumping on the bandwagon for

I can confirm that.  Only saw him once about 15 years ago, but my overall impression was that he was stoned, a decent guy, and a loner.  That is he was decent until someone shouted "OH MY GOD INDY," at which point he flashed a resigned, weary grin at a shocked 7 year old girl, turned around to glare at the guy who
