Allen's hit to miss ration is slightly higher than Miike, and he has more undisputed classics.  I love them both, but I'll put Crimes and Misdemeanors bleakness up against any of Miike's nihilist output and wager you'll come out of Allen's film feeling worse about human nature.

Oh, the musicians that hate Meg White?  They always stuck me as people jealous of the White Stripes' success.  Yet they cant knock the songs because they are great, and there is no denying that Jack is a brilliant guitarist.  Calling them sellouts seems like sour grapes from someone who couldn't make it that big.

Well, it's true.  He was almost untouchable until "… But Seriously."  Then he created a series of albums that were so bad they made everything else worse in hindsight.

Alternate title: John Goodman is Awesome Megamix.

I don't think that Sterling was directly referencing the theory of Nuclear Winter in "Midnight Sun" but considering how tightly linked the overarching themes of The Twilight Zone are to the atomic age and cold war I can't rule out that it somehow informed the idea behind this episode.  While it wasn't known that name

Chevy was excellent tonight.  I'm really, really wondering what his problem with the show is.  This season they've given him a more nuanced, fleshed out character.  It's not drop-dead funny but it allows him to do some real work as an actor.

Nobody ever mentions Aunt Amy when they discuss this episode.  She tells Anthony not to go into the barn, but he doesn't do anything to her.  Nobody else can even suggest that he is not doing what he should without immediately taking it back for threat of something awful happening.  His mother doesn't realize this,

It's one of the few episodes of TV that disturb me on almost a cellular level.  I can hardly think about it without getting chills.

With this show there is a chance that will happen, or at least Leslie will come to a grudging understanding of her.  That's what I love about the show.  They all, with the exception of imported antagonists, are just such nice people.  Most TV shows can't pull that off and remain interesting.

Shel was one of the most respected songwriters of both the outlaw country and folk movements.  He also wrote "A Boy Names Sue" and a bunch of other songs for Johnny Cash, "Cover of the Rolling Stone," "The Unicorn," Loretta Lynn's "One's on the Way."  He was a highly respected songwriter in the country community.

I'm with you on that.  I think Outside is growing in stature as the years pass.

Cooking With Cranston - But you have to admit that the burnt out Union Jack trenchcoat he wore on the Earthling cover is pretty kick-ass.

Every album is called his best since "Scary Monsters."

Yes, indeed, however the episode is not just blunt instrument.  It's a blunt instrument that keeps hitting.  The repetition works at first, but there was too much time to kill in the episode for just repetition.  The idea didn't go anywhere.

This episode made me realize I've really missed the show.

Ted Leo + The Pharmacist's "Me and Mia" explains exactly what it's like to be anorexic or bulimic.  I've known a couple in my life, and when they explain what it's like this song is almost exactly how they feel.  The tune and lyrics are perfect for what it's trying to do.  It's not my favorite song in the world, but

Seeing it again I forget how breathless the laughter is both in the studio and for the audience at home.  The crowd wanted to erupt a few times but they both sensed that it might set the timing off and also didn't want to miss what would happen next.

Gardening is straight forward  If I may quote Shia: "You plant a radish, get a radish, not a burssel sprout.  That, sir, is why I like vegetables.  You know what they're about."

School librarian here.  He's not just part of your curriculum, he's part of ours in the exact same way.

What didn't work for me wasn't the idea of "Ghost Lincoln."  It could have worked if handled better.  No, what failed for me was that he called himself the last casualty of the civil war. I don't want to get too political here, but at the time this episode aired a great deal of people in the South might have taken
