"I also distinctly remember one episode in which I drew all over a classmate's picture of Jonathan Taylor Thomas to make him look like Grand Nagus Zek."

ladies…ladies…please. I think we can all agree the AvP films took the series to new heights.

Teaching was great as far as vacation goes…all the major holidays plus 10 week summers.

Morn, how dare you sir!? That is my sister! I demand satisfaction!

i also had to work yesterday and today. I'd bitch about how this new job is killing me, but, on the other hand, I have a new job that is killing me.

@nameless one

Once? I think Picard is actually the most sexually active person on the ship. He gets more tang than a Mercury astronaut.

i disagree, but even if, awkward, idealized social interactions probably spoke to the writing staff and target demographic a bit.

Gabby - me too. Little 7th grade me went out and checked Gigamesh out of the library and it went from there

Mrs. P - really? I tend to reflect back and am overawed by the number of times i did something really really stupid or ill-advised and fortunately did not reap the whirlwind.

speaking of callbacks, I like how Tapestry extends upon that earlier ep where Picard is telling Wesley about the incident in the shuttlecraft (season 2, i think, since Pulaski was involved).

I loved it too, Mrs. P - i was playing on the stereotype a bit. I actually have found most trek fans I know to be an active, competent, independent, gainfully employed folk - I daresay moreso than the national average. I'd like to say correlation implies causation, but probably not.

Re: Netflix: I've told person after person that they just added the entire Star Trek catalog to instant watch (DS9 soon), so they can have their extra $2. I'm even watching Voyager!

Man boobs
"Ensign Deseve is a stiff looking dude, with larger breasts then you usually get on a man, but he's able to articulate the appeal of Romulan culture,"

@MSG - I'd rather have an Ambrosia, but your point is well taken. A lawyer, for Gods' sake! I guess i'll be anything to make daddy mad.

…field promotions typically stick, though, right?

right on, Bat. I look forward to discussing this topic a lot in the future. For now, though, I think what Zack said is spot-on. This is the most raw, harsh, and visceral episode of TNG, It really is unique in the series for a lot of reasons, but I think it fits right in with the tone of a lot of DS9…and not just

I always figured red shirt data was a result of Jellico being a stickler for uniform protocol. the first officer must be a command-track officer and since Riker was relived, Data had to put that on.

I don't have any problem with the entertainment value - i've watched it and thought it was serviceable action fare. Problem is: unlike bad horse and all of you guys who i trust implicitly in terms of compartmentalizing, most people really, like really want our government to be run by jack bauer, which is fucking nuts.

I enjoy the Voyager finale in which the Doctor "Joe" is married to some hot young bombshell. and by enjoy i mean find it to be silly and troubling in terms of the girl's mental health.
