I don’t think the individual women in question deserve to be “outed.” Nor can Cole necessarily name them all. I think Cole’s method—which grants every woman on the Buffy set plausible deniability—is better.

Actually, Dushku has had no problem calling out harassment in recent years, once #Me Too made it clear that a woman who complained about such things might be believed and supported and not immediately blacklisted from all future work. None of that suggests anything, positive or negative, about what she may have

A) It’s not my business which actresses slept with Whedon. He was in a position of power, and I can’t imagine that it would be good for the women in question for that information to get out.

Either the author of the article cut every last thing Whedon said that could have been even mildly helpful to him (Apologies? Indications that he has learned some sort of lesson? Acknowledgements that his behavior was unacceptable?), or Whedon is a bad, bad person. I’m inclined toward the later possibility.

That always bothered me about MSotM. You know a book was written in the ‘60s when the parents of the child character are like, “So, you want to live alone on this mountain for the winter where you could freeze to death or get eaten by bears or whatever? Okay, cool. See you in a few months, son. Maybe.

Hatchet! I loved survival fiction so much as a child. Gary Paulsen and Scott O’Dell were the best people a kid could read. It was so fun reading about how Brian discovered flint and details about how he was able to survive. And who doesn’t love books where the main character’s struggle to confront their own internal

As a teacher, I’ve found censorship to be quite useful for my purposes. Nothing makes kids/teenagers/young 20-somethings want to read a book more than finding out that some adult somewhere doesn’t want them to read it.

I have no problem with Brosnan as Bond. He had a bit of a Timothy Dalton problem, though, in that Dalton only got one good Bond movie (The Living Daylights). With that record, of course no one really thought of Dalton as Bond. Brosnan did even worse. He got .25 of a good Bond movie (The first quarter of Die Another

When I saw this article’s title, I was like . . . “Has Elvira confessed to a taste for vampires or mummies as part of a publicity stunt, or were we all assuming she was straight before?”

Wow. First, I’m not suggesting that the show will be an unambiguous good, just that it will probably be better for causes if it exists than if it doesn’t. And yes, I recognize that Simon Cowell’s judgements did influence who people voted for on American Idol. My point is simply that most people in the world of

Yes, producers shouldn’t decide which causes/activists “win” or “lose,” and causes are not entertainment, but:

I am a fan of the school of thought that Cinderella’s kindness has been unfairly maligned over the years. (In addition to the video above, this point recently appeared in a very good article in Slate: https://slate.com/culture/2021/09/ted-lasso-and-cinderella-the-apple-tv-show-and-amazons-movie-differ-on-the-importance

Is this show really as gross as all that? I mean, sure, it’s odd to make causes compete on a gamified t.v. show, but causes compete all the time in real life. If someone is going to donate a million dollars to charity and I’m in charge of a non-profit I’m going to angle for a chunk of that cash, and if I get it, that

I don’t need them to die, but could we impose a limit? About once every five years for films and once every three years for Broadway should do.

Also better than She’s All That: Latter Days, another rom com that revolves around a bet. Although in this case, the bet is that a slutty, gay himbo will be able to get a quiet, yet attractive Mormon missionary into bed with him. No, it’s not porn. And Amber Benson shows up for some reason.

Courtney Love’s story is tragic. She’s a highly intelligent and talented person who has done some very good work, but is often too mired in psychological/substance abuse issues to do well at work or personal relationships. And the public reaction to her is really sexist. I’m pretty sure that Keith Richards has acted

OF course, cartoon lovers everywhere prefer Fishbone’s Performs Boris Badenov album.

Dismissal of entire genres or entire forms of art rubs me the wrong way. If you say that you hate all comic books/poetry/modern art/hip hop, I tend to think that you’ve only run into one or two examples of the genre/form in question. Or only one or two examples that you were able to classify as fitting that category. O

Where to start?

The popularity of “Cat Person” should have prepared us all for the possibility of that the person you just went home with suddenly becoming unsexy to you. It seems wise to consider in advance whether you might go through with the sex anyway or whether you would almost certainly not want to go there and what excuse(s)
